Jun-6 not working after upgrading to 11

Hello!
After upgrading to 11 (long time user) I discovered that none of the Jun-6 presets are working (no sound). The presets are there, the virtual instrument is there - but no sound at all.

All of the other synths in Analog lab/V inst. 11 are working just fine - only the Jun-6 is not working.

I tried uninstalling/re-installing Jun-6 from Arturia Software Center - still not working.

I just submitted a support case for this. Just wondering if anyone else has or is having a similar problem.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If you use the mouse to ‘play’ the on screen keyboard - does it work?

Have you checked the Audio/Midi settings for the Jun6? Are they the same as other working plugins?

Is this a problem in standalone and or in a DAW if you are using one?

Hi Funtmaster!
Thank you for your quick reply.
No, virtual keyboard doesn’t play.
Audio/Midi settings same as others in Jun6.
Problem in both standalone and DAW.

I wonder if it would work if I downloaded Jun6 separately and placed in the folder with the other arturia plugins manually…?

Are you saying that the file for Jun6 is not in the same folder as the other plugins? If so - which folder are you referring to?

Are you on Windows or OSX and what DAW are you using?

Jun6 is in the same file as the other. All Arturia files are within a folder called Arturia within my applications folder. OSX (Sonoma). Logic Pro. Problem exists both in standalone and as a plugin in Logic Pro. I have been using Analog Lab and V Instruments for a long time - - this has only happened after the upgrade to 11. It seems to have begun after the upgrade as I hadn’t been using the Jun6 since then.

I was speculating/asking on whether to download Jun6 manually from the website and install it that way.

Thank you!

OK

Certainly I can see no harm in downloading and installing it separately.

Have you tried creating a new patch?

I would shoot myself if I didnt ask: is the volume knob raised?

Its a very long shot but could you try deleting the db.db3 as detailed in the following article:

This will recreate the patch database - as I say, a long shot as it normally resolve situations where patches are not visible.

Other than that - maybe others here may have suggestions else wait for Support to get back to you.

HI @kurtlogic and welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum!

Many thanks to @Funtmaster for his advice here, he’s basically given you the ‘usual’ ways to resolve most of the more common issues we see from time to time here.
Once you’ve worked your way through these, please let us know how you get on either way, so we can either try to help you further or mark this as ‘solved’.

HTH!

Hi Mat:
Thank you so much. I haven’t solved it yet. Waiting for my response from support before I proceed. Also will go through when I get the chance and continue to troubleshoot whether there is some setting in Jun6 that is different, although I suspect the solution will require some sort of reinstall. The virtual keyboard is there, all the presets are there, just no sound!

On a happier note, I have a brand new 88 mk3 that arrived yesterday. It’s in the box waiting to be set up. I had the mk1 for about 10 years. I gave it away when I purchased mk3 61. I really miss the piano action (mk3 is supposed to be an upgrade in that regard). I’ll use the 61 in some other context.

I’m reasonably confident that the problem will be solved. Will be nice to get there.

I quickly discovered something interesting - on the Jun6 when I hit the panic button I can play a preset. Before hitting the panic button, the usage is frozen at 2% (no sound). When I click the panic button (lower right corner of Analog Lab). The sound will play but the usage is much higher that other synths - - over 20%. Any change in preset requires hitting the panic button again to play that sound (again, only within Jun6. Everything else is working).

I mostly play presets - don’t do much editing or fiddling with knobs too much. I use for playing and recording sounds, so I don’t think it’s likely I changed something to cause this (other than updating) but I suppose it’s possible.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks! Kurt

Unusual behaviour such as that, especially when only exhibiting in one plugin, does sound like a bad install.

I would try a manual uninstall (I know you have tried once) as follows:

Then empty your Trash and reboot before reinstalling.

As a side note: make sure you have the latest version of the ASC.

If that doesn’t work I think you are in Arturias hands.

Good luck.

Thanks @Funtmaster

That would have been my next post too…

Thanks, guys! Heard from support and I’m going to try to get it sorted out today. Kurt.

Hey kids! If you’re keeping score at home, here’s an update on this issue.

Arturia support suggested enabling full disk access to all individual instruments/effects, which I did. They also suggested a manual uninstall/install of Jun6 with a provided direct link to a Jun6 download.

I discovered after going through all synths (there are a lot of them!), the CP70 was having the same issue (all others working).

I followed all directions and manually uninstalled Jun6 and CP70, then reinstalled Jun6.

This did not work and the problem still existed.

So, I got the bright idea to uninstall/reinstall Analog Lab V from within ASC. I also reinstalled CP70 from there.

Guess what? It seems to be working fine now.

The moral of this story? No clue…but it’s working hopefully!. Yay.

Thats great.

Perhaps the installation of the Analog Lab was the problem, causing issues with the two plugins. Although why they were a problem is standalone and the DAW, outside or AL,V is a mystery.

Anyhow - happy synthing!

Thanks Funtmaster. I appreciate the feedback you gave me. It was helpful.
