Why are Pianos limited after macOS Sequoia update?

I contacted Arturia Tech Support (shown at bottom) but they did not respond. I also cannot see any place where a ticket exists.

Please help if you can; I have ongoing projects in progress that are affected. Here’s the situation:

I have multiple Analog Lab V Collection 9 pianos that I tweak settings on. After my MB Pro (Apple Silicon M1 Max) updated its OS to Sequoia, some pianos no longer allow access to controls, but bring up the “You need to own the full version of Piano V3”. However…

ASC reports this is already installed as: Piano V3 3.2.2.5305

It seems my Analog Lab V Collection 9 thinks I should no longer have access, though until recently I had full access to all pianos to adjust the many parameters available.

Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks,

Charles

I had a similar problem. After the update, Full Disk Access was apparently reset on my system. You can find this under System Settings > Privacy & Security. There you have to select com.arturia and all Arturia apps and then restart. After I did this, my problems were solved.

  • Are there not any Arturia Apps in the list, click on the + sign at the bottom of the window and search for the Arturia software that are located in >Applications/Arturia<

Hi @bigcharles. Welcome back.

You don’t tell when you contacted support. Did you get a auto generated reply?

Arturia do not yet officially support Sequoia.

But perhaps it does anyway.
So can you run your Piano V3 by it self - not through Analog Lab?

You can try to deactivate your V-Collection and then Activate it again, in case there should be an activation error.

BTW: Latest Piano V version is Piano V3 3.3.2.5305. I assume that’s what you have.

Thank you cs.elblaut, GREAT tip with excellent detail that led me directly to the fix attempt. Unfortunately, though I successfully granted Full Disk Access to all Arturia apps, restarted Mac, re-scanned plugins in LPX, restarted LPX… no joy. :frowning:

Question: You say your problem was similar — but not exactly the same? Was your solution discovered after updating to Sequoia, or on a previous macOS?

Thanks,
Charles

Thank you LBH. I sent the form to tech support on Monday but never got email confirmation so maybe it didn’t go through.

Yes, I am able to run Piano V3 as a standalone app, just not in Logic (actually, I am not locked out of all pianos - just the ones I use most). Yup, as in my orig. post mine is Piano V3 3.2.2.5305. ASC doesn’t show any activation error — but I suppose I could try to deactivate and activate again. Would I do this only for Piano V3, or all of Analog V Col. 9 ?

Anyway, thank you for trying to help. It seems my Mac auto-updated the OS overnight. I thought this was turned off (it is now!).

Trying to downgrade to Sonoma would be a nightmare. I always have full backups, in fact my drive is cloned to a bootable drive. But if I did and it didn’t fix the problem… ugh.

It does seem that if Arturia are charging good money for apps running on Mac OS, they are obligated to keep up with Apple’s OS updates — though I understand Apple isn’t always so cooperative with 3rd party developers.

Does anyone know how soon they expect to have Sequoia compatibility?

Thanks again, I appreciate your efforts.
Charles

I’ve yet to update to Sequoia for the same reason. Arturia are notoriously slow in patching their apps for the latest MacOS release. I’m not particularly sympathetic to their cause because the OS has been live for three months now, and betas have been downloadable since July.

It was similar in the sense that I was shown the same dialogue ‘You need to own the full version of Piano V3’ in Analog Lab. Even though I own and had installed the V Collection. For me, the problem occurred after the last update (I think at the end of November) for Analog Lab. At that time I had been using Sequoia for some time and although Arturia was not officially compatible, everything worked fine.

Can you also open the Piano inside Analog Lab but outside Logic?

Look like it’s not an activation issue, if it work outside Logic.
It don’t take long too de- and reactivate. It’s not about reinstalling anything to do this.
In Arturia Software Center you can deactivate all products in Preferences. Then just click Activate again, like when you activate your product the first time.
On your Arturia Product page you can deactivate each product - like a Collection.

If you have’nt got a auto generated confirmation mail from Arturia, then something seem have gone wrong. Normallyy you get such a mail very quick and a reply within 24 hours except in weekends. I suggest you try again, if you need to get in touch with Arturia support.

Arturia need to test products with a new OS to officially say they support it.
You can subscribe to Arturia newsletter or follow the OS article i linked to know to get info:

k, thank you :+1:
