V-Collection X Install Files

I’m trying to save some space on my D: drive (holds downloads mainly) and the Arturia folder is around 60GB for the V-Collection X install files.

When I looked through the folder, I noticed there were some duplicates of each instrument with what look like version numbers appended (see Augmented Voices in the screenshot below).

Some instruments have many files, some have only an exe and a confirm file. For example, in this screenshot you can see that Augmented Strings has multiple files, whereas Augmented Woodwinds has only two; Buchla Easel likewise only two:

I wonder what I can safely remove? I appreciate I could remove all of them, as the instruments are installed, but I’d like to keep installers for the last version downloaded to save time if I have to reinstall.

Thanks!

Hi,

These files are supposed to be temporary and should be deleted at the end of each product installation.

Could you specify in which folder they are contained?
Are you sure you didn’t only see them during a product installation?

If in doubt, you can contact our support team, who will help you understand the situation:

Bests,

Thanks for responding.

The files are in D:\Downloads\VSTs\Arturia

I’m certain the files remain after installation.

I’ve just done a re-install and now all of the instruments have multiple files (over 500 files altogether).

I’ve synchronised using Arturia Software Centre and it has deleted most of the V-Collection files it downloaded and says none of the instruments are installed!

I’m going to install them one by one and hope they stay installed.

Hi,

Have you in Arturia Software Centers (ASC) Preferences checked the “Delete installer after successful install” checkbox?

It’s stange if nothing has been installed. Do you have the checkbox “Silent install …” cheked?

I’m not sure, if the extra VST folder for your download path can give issues.

But yes - please contact Arturia support if the issue persist.

I’ve just finished re-installing them one by one and they seem to be working again. I think ASC got out of sync somehow.

There are still many files left (which is fine) in the Arturia downloads folder, but now 257, not 537 like before.

When I first installed the V-Collection, I set the folders I wanted then went through one by one. This morning I selected the silent install option (without ‘delete…’ ticked - explains why the files remained) and the files it downloaded were many more smaller ones, rather than one big one per instrument - although some instruments still have multiple files (like Augmented Mallets).

So I think it’s working as it should?

You don’t need any of the download files once the product is installed, unless you want to use them later. I suggest you delete all the downloaded files now to be sure nothing from there is causing install issues in the future. When updating you download new files.

Thanks. The larger files (typically 2 per instrument) came in handy doing a re-install before Christmas, but the last set (several per instrument, but smaller) is more unwieldy, so I’ve deleted them.

It seems if you tick the ‘silent install/smaller downloads’ option, you get the multiple smaller files. If not, you have to click your way through the instrument installs, but the remaining files are more manageable.

(In case anyone was wondering, this was all due to a failing Firecuda 530 nvme, which is going back under warranty).
