V Collection Update Pricing

I know this has been covered before, but I feel that it’s important enough to bring up again.

Some of Arturia’s pricing is very generous. I bought Pigments (3 or 4 - not sure) and now I’ve got the amazing Pigments 6 at no extra cost. I thing that’s very generous and I very much appreciate it.

However V Collection pricing is crazy. To buy it from scratch is a great deal - so many brilliant synths at a very reasonable price. However when each new version is released, the is very little incentive to upgrade. I own V Collection 8. When 9 and X came out, I already had 95% of the instruments. The benefit of getting a few more instruments and a few improved versions definitely does not justify buying the new version. I see that in the current sale there is not even an upgrade option. I would have to buy Collection X at the same price as everyone else, with no benefit from having bought Collection 8. That doesn’t make any sense.

Arturia - Please give consideration to introducing sensibly priced upgrade options for people who already own earlier versions of V Collection.

Thanks

Hi @Stuart.aberdein

If you log in to your account, you should see a special discount price for yourself.
You need to be logged in to see it though.

HTH!

Like Mat said, login to see your personal pricing first. And if the upgrade cost still doesn’t seem worthwhile to you, there’s also the option of only updating every couple versions. You wouldn’t have some of the newer instruments for awhile, but it would give you more value for the price.

OK - thanks. I see that my price is €299 vs €599 for first time buyers. I thought the €299 was just their sale special. Anyway, I still feel that €299 is way too much as my Collection 8 gives me at least 80% or more of the benefits of Collection X. I think I’ll pass.

Hi @Stuart.aberdein
Just out of curiosity, what would you expect at this price point to make it change your mind ? Or on the other hand, what would be the right price for the 8 or so new instruments added since VC8 ?
I’m asking because I acknowledge it’s a point that comes regularly and I want to understand better what is at stake for you.
Many thanks for your feedback,
Martin

I am in total agreement with this topic! I also looked to upgrade to X when I saw Arturia was having a deal and yes went to my login for upgrade price and it seemed to be the same as a new buyer sale price. No sale for me. And I feel $299 or half price after being a long time customer and been through many updates is an absurd price for the limited upgrades of one one or two version upgrade. $99 I’d already have it. Maybe even $149. Or even just the ability to wait for a sale “for loyal customers.” But half price feels liker an insult to me.

I am new to this forum and to the Arthuria lineup. I recently purchased the Astrolab and V-X. It took some negotiating with Sweetwater, but I finally got them to come down on the price on both (I paid $250 on the X). I am in agreement with a nominal upgrade charge and $99 would seem a reasonable place to start considering the upgrade would only provide 20% new features. It would go a long way in holding on to loyal customers. That savings might actually find its’ way to Arturia by way of purchasing new products or applications.

My price for V Collection X is €99 but when adding it to the cart, it changes to €599.
Anyone having this issue?

HI @Jtyler and welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum!

I think it might be a good idea for you to log into your account and contact Arturia Support to see if they can help with your issue.
They’re Mon-Fri though and it’s Sunday today of course.

HTH!

I agree with both the assertion of generosity but also the very high price for upgrading, especially for me.

I bought V Collection X in December last year. Granted, it was on sale, but still, I bought it less than 5 months ago.

Now I am being asked to pay €199 to upgrade to 11, which I think is very steep especially considering when I bought VC X. I’m keen on the JP 8000 emulation especially, but I would want to have the latest available of all that V Collection has to offer. I was expecting an update price of maybe €99 given that it’s been less than 6 months since I bought X

I do agree with the first post.

I bought V Collection 9, then paid the upgrade to V Collection X, and now they ask me 199 € to upgrade to V Collection 11, which is ONE THIRD of the pack price, just for a few novelties most of them not that interesting to me.

That is way too much, and as has been said, I would find an upgrade price of 99 € for loyal customers more appropriated.

Arturia should reconsider these upgrade prices if they want to keep their customers. Nowadays there are a lot, really a lot of virtual instruments manufacturers to choose from.

I think V collection itself is getting too big if above marks are made.

I think keeping V collection as is and start a second bundle with the pigments synthesizers would generate more revenue. It is allso not based on samples but on physical modelling. I don’t think Arturia has explained this to the public.

Looking at my pricing, to upgrade from X to 11 is £149. To buy the new JUP its £149. I think the upgrade price is ok, as id also get the new SEM, so two for one (not bothered with the Augmented stuff, never used them), but I have everything else already, so would prefer to buy JUP for less. I’ll wait until maybe a sale comes around and it drops a bit.

For my part, I have a proposal very interesting. I suppose that if it’s a preferential amount, it’s because I bought several of the elements that are part of the 11 collection at one time (the only ones missing are the Jup-8000 V, Pure LoFi, and Sem V3).

I also invested in a significant number of Banks and I must personally thank Arturia for their kindness, as they do at certain times when we have the opportunity to benefit from a preferential amount.

I don’t want to attract the attention of this company that allows us to find many instruments for our beloved compositions, but to show gratitude and a sense of marketing that is often profitable for us.

I understand some people’s frustration with their investments, but it’s like all digital businesses, VST and musical instruments, it’s the first to benefit from the current exclusivity and unfortunately the price, while the others on the sidelines wait for the right moment or simply remain spectators.

Arturia leaves us the choice.

Moreover, I think I’ll leave this proposal for later, which will certainly be less competitive because I’m protecting the family finances.

A big thank you to Arturia and her entire team.

I agree with the great job arturia is making. I have loads of arturia products, sounds, effect 5, colections 8 and 9, many instruments that I bought separately… so i think that what i need now is just jup 8000, synth X and pure lofi. I weighed if buy or not collection 11 for 299€, but it seems too much money for me now( i have all the augmented apart from wood and yangtse)
So i will wait to see if with time i get a better deal.
For me 99€ is the right price since i have an incredible amount arturia’s i

You’re not wrong, however I think the collection upgrade pricing is not intended to be a “get it every year” or version situation. There are so many synths included that I feel it’s unlikely most users will be strongly compelled to pick up “just a couple more.” However, if you consider that the collection itself is primarily a bundle of the plugins they’ve been developing in the last year+ and offered at a discount, it’s not so bad. After all, the collection upgrade includes what, 4-6 new synths that sell for about 150 each? So, if you were going to get let’s say the Jup-8000 and the Minibrute plugins, it’s a savings to get it on discount.

If only 1 of them was interesting, and you’ve sat it on this long, you either didn’t feel the price was worth it or were busy playing with the other synths in the collection. The collection itself still sees updates throughout the year.

And if the new synths aren’t compelling to you, wait until V12 and see what’s in that. If memory serves, they still offer discounts to existing customers.
