I have a minilab3 that I use on my MacBook . I have v-collection x now and can use the minilab3 to select patches and control features and functions inside the software.
It is no secret that I do not like some of what I feel are critical design choices made in the KeyLab MK3 controller. I find it does not work well with my needs like the minilab3 does so I cannot use it and am returning the unit that I bought. I do however want a 61 key midi controller for use in my basement studio.
Am I correct to assume that if I match up the midi CC-id used for all the encoder and faders and use the same ones on a different brand controller that it would allow similar pre-mapped controls?
For example. If I run MCC on the minilab3 and turn the main control encoder it shows Ch 1 CC114. so is it safe to assume that if I map an encoder on a different controller to use CC114 that turning that encoder would allow me to select patches inside of V_Collection instruments like the main controller does on the minilb3 (or keylab)?
likewise encoders 1-8 would get mapped to CC74, CC71, CC76, CC77, CC93, CC18, CC19 & CC16 respectively.
has anyone tried this? right now I only own a very old Alesis VI49 that non of the software works with and the mod wheel is broken so its impossible to test.
