Use a pedal to trigger the mod wheel?

I have just started playing live again, and will be using Hammond sounds a lot with my Keylab MKIII. I want to use a non-latching pedal on the aux input to trigger the Leslie speaker effect on the mod wheel. I have it setup in midi control centre to do this. But it isn’t working. Where am I going wrong?

Hi @Mikey1964 .

I do not have a Keylab MK3.

More precise informations is needed. What exactly have you done?
Do you mean you in User mode have tried to set the AUX pedal to midi CC#01? If so - have you for example set the min and max values?

It can help, if you post an image of what you have done, in case you need further help.

Hi. I’ll be heading to my studio in around 45 minutes, and will give a more detailed explanation of the issue, with screenshot, once I get there.

But the basic issue is, I was trying to assign a pedal connected to the aux socket, to the mod wheel in midi control centre, with a minimum value of 0, maximum of 127. The pedal is a basic sustain pedal, non-latching.

Sorry its taken so long to get back about this. My interface died and I’ve spent over a week looking for an adequate replacement. So now I’m back up and running…

Okay, so here’s what I’m doing in MCC:

Select the aux socket on the rear of the KL3. In the control section I select to have it active for both parts. I have the “type” set to “control”, the midi channel set to “active”, the cc number set to “1 - modulation wheel”, the min value to 0 and the max value to 127.

I have tried both polarities on my pedal, tried different pedals, restarting the KL3, and restarting MCC.

Hope you have found a good interface replacement.

Midi CC#01 is reserved for the modwheel. I don’t know, but perhaps it for some reason is’nt possible to have other controls set to midi CC#01. Can you for example use a fader?

I don’t have the controller, so i can’t test.

I would imagine if it’s available to allocate in MCC, then it’s not reserved.

I would say it should be possible to do like you try to. But for some reason it does’nt. So i try to find out what could be the reason.

Midi CC#01 is in standard generel midi the modwheel.

If you are using the correct pedal input on your controller - in this case the AUX input -, then something else must be wrong. So i ask you to test with a fader. It’s troubleshooting.

If your pedal work correct with other midi CC’s for something else, then it look like it can have something to do with the midi CC#01. What else?

Off coarse there can be a bug. So i would then contact Arturia support and ask, if i was you, if the above testing does’nt give any answers.
