I have V COLLECTION 10 and am thinking about installing upgrades to individual instruments vs. buying a full upgrade to 11.
Either way, I’m new enough to V Collection (only owned for a year), I don’t know what happens to my programmed user sounds/presets in an upgrade. I use Gig Performer and am worried that an upgrade might wipe my Arturia user presets.
Has anyone with more experience than me done upgrades and what is the best way to approach instrument - specific updates? What becomes of user presets?
I’m hoping I can update instruments, but not lose the many sounds I’ve programmed.
USER patches are unaffected by the upgrade. However, a backup and/or exporting them would be wise before upgrading.
Bear in mind that if one of your new purchase is a rewrite of an earlier version you used, as is the case with Mini V3 and V4, or CS80 V3 and V4, then patches created in each version will only work in that version and are not compatible either way However, I doubt this is an issue you will experience in upgrading from V10 to V11 instruments.
SEM V has been upgraded from V2 to V3 version. This changes have been of such a character, that it unfortunately can’t use the V2 presets.
But the V2 and the V3 version can be installed alongside each other. The V2 version is now a legacy product and will no longer be updated.
If you click the button “Get my Personel offer” in the following link, then you can see your offer for VC11. If you plan to buy more than one or two new instruments, then it’s probably cheaper to to upgrade to VC11. Keep in mind that updates for the VCX are free but not the new and upgraded instruments. https://www.arturia.com/products/software-instruments/v-collection/overview
If you create presets in a host format like Gig Performer, then they load the original instrument - and for SEM it will be the V2 version and not the new V3 version.
The engine has been completely redone from scratch to sound so much better with the SEM V3 and Mini V4 and CS-80 V4. That’s why the term “update” doesn’t really do it justice. You’re not just buying an improved browser and more modern advanced panel, but the sound engines themselves.
