With all other vst synths (including all V Collection synths), I press chord > press sustain pedal to hold the arpeggio > change to another chord > release the sustain. I do is to make sure theres no improper breaks in the arp sequence and insure it plays my chord properly.
However with the mini freak v, releasing the sustain pedal closely to the time I play a new chord makes the arpeggiator stop playing and I have to replay the chord.
The only way to get the arp to work correctly is to not use the sustain pedal at all and hold the notes and then spider my hands into the next chord. But that means I can’t free up my hands to do other things while the arp is playing. It’s also difficult to make sure the the notes of the new chord are sent in time for the next arp chord.
I only have the MiniFreak V. In Poly mode you can just keep the Sustain/ Hold active untill you need to stop the ARP. Whenever you have relased all keys, then the arp only use the notes you play next still while hold is active.
So i’m not sure what your issue is. Is it because you want to be able to play out of beat? If so, then you do need to release the Sustain/ Hold before you play the new notes.
However: I agree that if you release the Sustain/ Hold after you play new notes and still have the keys pressed, then the notes should not stop playing. I have noticed this odd behavior in some of the applications. I suggest you contact Arturia support about this, if that’s your issue.
Now more than a year has passed from this issue - on the hardware Minifreak it is still same action. Sustaining the arpedgiator and pressing new chords with holding the keys releasing the pedal will kill ALL notes instead of only those, that were hold before.
Seems - Arturia has lost the interest to fix this bug.
Have you contacted Arturia support through your account?
I only have the MiniFreak V as software.
If i press the Hold button in the VOICES section for Arp’s, then the notes pressed is held. When i press new notes all other than the new pressed notes is active. This is great. Have you tried that?
If i use the Hold pedal for Arp’s, then it’s unfortunately true, that all notes stops like you describe, when the pedal is released.
I can’t tell if this is by design.
When using Hold pedal with none Arp sounds, then it work like expected. Notes held down keep playing, while released notes stop.
When the button HOLD / Sustain is pressed (active), and you are not using Arp nor Seq mode, the Midi message is:
MIDI IN [MiniFreak]: B0 40 7F
When button HOLD / Sustain is pressed when Arp or Seq mode is active, the midi message is:
MIDI IN [MiniFreak]: B0 40 01
When HOLD / Sustain is not active, the midi message is:
MIDI IN [MiniFreak]: B0 40 00
HOLD / Sustain, when active sends a control change message whit the value 127 (on) to CC#64 (B0 40 7F on Hex values). When HOLD / Sustain is not active, the message on CC#64 is 0 (B0 40 00 on Hex values).
When Arp or Seq modes are active, HOLD / Sustain is sending a value of 1 instead of 127 (B0 40 01 on Hex values). To consider a CC message on, the value must be greater than 64, with a value of 1 it is taked as an off message so HOLD / Sustain is never activated in Arp nor Seq mode.
It seems there’s no problem on Mini Freak, until is linked to Mini Freak V, because an error on the values sent on CC#64.

Hi again,
I will say, that it can be by design.
Not all synths have the Hold feature that MiniFreak have.
You can just Enable the HOLD button. Then it even help you keep the beat. Perhaps that’s why the Hold pedal work like it does for Arps and Sequences.
You can even use the hold pedal to stop all notes.
But yes i would’nt mind a free hold pedal function for this.
Again you can ask Arturia support and make suggestions too.
