Standalone pitch and mod controller

Always wanted a standalone pitch and mod controller, either wheel or strip, but never found one.

So I “built” it myself. :smirk:

Very cool!

Hey, I recognize that bit of a Komplete Kontrol keyboard from NI!

I, too, have been wanting this for a LONG time, but with a joystick, and a ribbon strip, like Roland/Korg/etc. Pitch wheels make no sense to me, unless they were rotated 90 degrees, to a left/right orientation.

I want to ask you all about this: Did you keep the boards attached for the all the logic and communication, or did you mock it up with a Pi or Arduino or?

What became of the donor controller? How did you remove that part? Do you have a background in stuff like this, or are you just going for it? Genuinely curious about all of it.

Cheers!

Hi,
the donor controller was the Microlab MK3.
The great thing is that the circuit board is completely below the controls and It also retains the foot pedal input.
No soldering required.
I just removed the flat cable connected to the keys.
Then used a Dremel to cut the frame, glued the right end to the open side and screwed a thin crooked chipboard scrap unprofessionally to the bottom.
