I know that Overloud has a very good VST which emulates the famous Rockman, but has anybody experience in replicating the Rockman Sound with only the effects which are available within Analog Lab?
HI @zappafrank
I think you may have posted on the UAD forum earlier too?
Theoretically, if you want to sit there for a while, you should be able to approximate some sounds yes.
Of course though, you would only be able to use sounds contained within ALV.
Are you wanting to run guitars etc through it too?
I notice that you can pick up a new Rockman for a little over £100 these days, i’m not sure how close they are to the ‘classic’ ones used back in the 80s though.
HTH!
Jan Hammer used Rockmans for his famous distorted guitar sound which was produced with rather unspectacular dx7 presets which sounded amazing when he was sending them trough a Rockman. That’s what I am after. Yes, I have asked in the UAD Forum also because I try to have my setup as compact as possible and I use UAD Plugins, the Analog Lab and my Nord Stage. And sometimes I play guitar too, but in the moment I am obsessed with those Jan Hammer Sounds. And the good news is that the Analog Lab Distortion Effect is not bad at all.
And in this case I will try to have a couple of options. If I would buy a Rockman Pedal I would not buy an old pedal from the eighties. You never know how long it will last.
I think this would be a good buy:
But I think it is also a very rewarding experience if you manage to get this sound without buying a pedal. I have bought to many pedals But maybe someday in a weak hour GAS will strike and I will maybe buy this pedal…
Lol yeah i thought it was a bit too specific to be a coincidence.
Great to hear you’re pleased with what you’ve managed to achieve with ALV
If you know a decent electronics repair person locally, then picking up second hand things like The Rockman can be a good idea if you can get them cheap enough.
I see there are also some more modern incarnations too such as the ‘Guitar Ace’.
Yep, i rather like pedals too, i use a Radial EXTC Stereo to use them as insert and Aux effects, LOADS of fun!
