Optimize Windows for V Collection?

Has anyone tried to optimize a Windows laptop / slate for V Collection?

Sorry if this post sounds naggy. I realize that I’m already spoilt with what I have, and I may exaggerate my annoyance a bit to just make a point

I have a semi-old Microsoft Surface Pro 7 with Windows 11, and I have used it for running V Collection for a few years, nowadays connected to a Roli Seaboard 2.

It’s all fantastic, on paper. The Seaboard is great for MPE, and the V Collection is an endless collection of fantastic sounds. And still, I’m longing for a AstroLab 61.

It doesn’t make sense. I have it all, and more (MPE). However, I don’t use it as much as I thought I would. I guess I’m tired of Windows and screens, and dream of something more integrated.

Some issues:

  • Turning it on/off: I want to be able to turn one item on and just play. Then just turn it off and walk away. No starting up of Windows, logging in, starting apps etc. I guess I can put it to sleep instead of turning it off, but I would still have a log in sequence of some kind, and you can bet that not everything works as intended after waking up again (drivers, sound, input etc.)

  • Windows updates and other features are constantly nagging and reminding me about this and that. I can turn off Windows updates, but there will be other things popping up every now and then stealing my attention.

  • Latency spoils the fun. I have installed ASIO4ALL, but it’s fiddly to say the least, and only reduces latency so far.

  • The screen interface: I would love to control the whole thing through something else than clicking and touching a screen the whole time. Sure it has many advantages, but I guess I’m a bit tired of screens. I can live with it if I don’t have to notice the OS behind it, ever. Just the fact that Arturia’s software is a windowed experience that doesn’t fit the screen perfectly makes the experience a bit annoying.

So has anyone tried to optimize these things, to make it a bit more like an AstroLab experience.
