(newb owner) Advice on how best to configure Keylab mkiii for Live use? LPX/Mac

Picked up the mkiii last week. I’ve been playing keys for around 30 years but have never really owned a dedicated midi controller. I picked it up because I wanted a lightweight board for gigs/jams but also to allow me to dip into my exhaustive palette of VI’s/color boxes etc

I’m working on my patches (for a live show) within Logic, but now I’m not sure how best to get all my patches talking to the controller. I’d like the mapping to change depending on the patch. Ie, I’d like the faders to operate as drawbars for the organ patch, and the rotary knobs to control different stages of drive and also effects. In subsequent patches I’d like to assign these to different parameters. Also wanting to assign pads to different midi channels, for triggering sounds/samples (do i need to be in User mode to do this?)

I’m not sure whether I should be in DAW mode or User… I’ve tried playing around in Midi control centre and saving the mappings as a user template, but then I lost the ability to scroll through the patches as in daw mode.
I’m not really sure what to ask specifically, but I’m looking for any helpful advice/guidance on how best to approach this.

I should mention that I also have mainstage, so perhaps that would be a better option for organizing my patches?

The arturia tutorials give some kind of explanation of what each function does, but there are no real world examples.

Extremely grateful to any that take the time to help me out!
