I just got V Collection X and MIDI learn does not work on many of the instruments. I’ve found previous posts noting the issue but I don’t see any solutions.
For example, the CS-80 and Minifreak instruments will allow you to assign a control via the MIDI settings panel on the right but then the instrument never responds to those controls. So the instrument is receiving the MIDI CC and assigning it but then ignoring it. On some instruments, the same process works just fine and the assigned controls work after being assigned.
Has anyone found a way to MIDI learn the CS-80 and Minifreak?
Can you post a little more info please, such as your OS and whether you’re using a DAW or Standalone versions, also if you’re using a DAW; which one you’re using.
Works fine here - Win11 23H2 / Roland A300Pro / CS-80 V standalone.
CS-80 V Settings:
MPE disabled; Accessibility disabled also.
MIDI options:
*MIDI Controller: Generic MIDI Controller
*Fader Mode: Scale
*MIDI Config: Generic (to start off with - I used Learn to add other controls)
Did you save your MIDI profile and/or the preset after it learnt the assignments?
In FL Studio, attempting to do MIDI Learn doesn’t work, as FL intercepts the MIDI and doesn’t pass it through to the VST unless you specifically assign a MIDI port.
In Ableton, my A300Pro is detected as a Control Surface, so the faders get grabbed by Ableton for the mixer. I have to set the APro to ‘None’ in Options.
Maybe something similar in your situation? Although it does seem odd that it will receive and assign it, then ignore it.
I think this is an issue with some instruments on some systems. Minifreak V was not responding to MIDI CCs for me, which is on a Mac M2/Sonoma. Support have acknowledged it as a bug. Keep an eye out for updates.
