I like Analog Lab as my plugin manager for all my Arturia instruments but I would like Arturia to enhance the midi mapping feature. I have a little minilab and also other Novation midi controllers. MIDI mapping for my minilab is straightforward as it is already listed in the options. But for other non-Arturia midi controller midi mapping is not straightforward. Every time I update my V Collection, my user MIDI mappings are lost (I don´t know why), and I need to do it again. Midi mappings needs to be done for each instrument in the V collection.
I like the way Komplete Kontrol do midi mapping allowing to select easily from an extensive list of midi controllers included my Novation. I would suggest Arturia a feature request to enhance the MIDI mapping for non-Arturia midi controllers, somewhat like Komplete Kontrol is doing now.
Do you save and export your midi config for keeping it?
Do you set your config as default?
It’s not NI that have made those mappings. It’s the controller manufactors.
Any manufactor can provide a generic controller midi config for Arturia applications already, if they want to. The midi config can be named the controllers name. I can’t tell if it some day will be possible to have Arturia to implement none Arturia controllers as midi device to select an implementet midi config.
Yes, I save and export my midi config to keep it, and set is as default. What I recall, is that every time I get a V collection update, my midi config are lost and I need to reload the midi configs manually. But i deal with that.
You are right that the manufactors provide the midi mapping. But the NKS standard support will allow a more easy integration. Technically speaking, the feature request is to have Analog Lab to support the NKS standard so that way it will be more easy to do the MIDI mapping for many midi controllers that already support the NKS standard.
It would work both ways in benefit for Arturia if your MIDI controllers also support also the NKS standard, because that will allow to integrate more easily with the NI ecosystem and have the possibility to use more easily both the Arturia and the NI instruments as well with an Arturia controller. Imagine that!.
That is my my use case. I use V Collection and I love it. But I also use NI Komplete 15. Sometimes I found in my workflow a little more easy to use the Komplete Kontrol with my Arturia Instruments and effects. than Analog Lab.
But anyawy, at the end, it is just a feature request from an Arturia loyal user. I hope it could cold be considered. Thanks
