I’ve recently been exploring V collection 11 and I’m absolutely thrilled.
What bothers me, however, is the fact that there are only limited options for cataloging this incredible amount of over 12,500 sounds. While you can assign hearts and color labels or create your own playlists, you can’t create your own additional tags to catalog the sounds even more precisely.
In addition to Arturia, I also use Steinberg and NI instruments, and they all use their own taxonomy for their sounds, so I prefer a separate taxonomy for at least the most important sounds.
It would also be nice if the main view displayed the user’s custom tags instead of the designer name. Honestly, when I’m looking for a suitable sound for my mix, I don’t care which designer it is.
Therefore, I would really appreciate if Arturia would rework the sound management a bit.
Yes you have favorites and color icons like you mention.
Basicly you can create Types.
We can not create Main Type tags anymore, but i think we can do anything else. You can even create your own Sub Type tags under the main tags.
Under Styles - You can create your own tags for Genres, Styles and Characteristics.
You can create Banks.
You have a Comment text field.
You can search for any word in the search field.
You can search any tag. Just click the buttons.
You can choose between Designer, Bank and Instrument in the thirs column. I would’nt mind to be able to see Genre and Characteristic too.
You can choose to view more or less info for a selected preset in the right panel. More include tags.
I think people value different informations. I’m sure Arturia value your input.
Thanks for the feedback!
As the sound library grows, this is something we’d definitely like to improve in the future.
Whether that be more custom tagging/playlisting controls/curation, or better descriptive words to use. Your insight is much appreciated.
