[ Feature Request ] Arturia Modular Synth

Hello

I would like to see something new from Arturia and it is Modular synth as standalone product like Pigments. I don’t want to be it as classic Modular synth, but modular by “freedom” like that classic modular synth but with modern tools, like MSEG from Pigments etc… Not as that harware LFO looking UI with cables, but nice with UI representation as Pigments and stack them as many as I need. VA oscilators and maybe classic filters can have that hardware looking, but please not the rest.

  • I like to see some oscilators, some taken from Pigments like granular or modal oscilator (If I recall it corectly), wavetable. And new one, something own VirtualAnalog oscilators.
  • Lot of filters (new own filters and classics, and unusual similar to Pigments like comb, phase filter, or spectral filter, where user can draw it).
  • Function from Pigments (MSEG)
  • etc…

User can add many modules (oscilators, filters, functions etc…) as wish, and his computer allow it. Even arpegiators.
Those modules can be grouped, and layered and imagine each group or layer can have own arpegiator or even arpegiators.

The special of this product will be, if user have some synth from V Collection, the oscilator and filters (from synth from V Collection) can be used in this Modular synth. Even sampler like Emulator 2 and use samples from that.

3 views which can be combined

  1. performance view (keyboard with pitch bend and mod wheel, and several knobs (8), buttons and sliders (8) ).
  2. design view, where user adding modules and make connections between them.
  3. modulation view, where user have overview what is connected with.

Those views can be displayed seprately or user can split view and view it all (or only two) at one view.

This is only rought idea. Hope you will like it too  and any ideas are welcome.

Hi @Obelix and thanks for the suggestion!

Arturia are always looking to improve their existing line-up and to bring new and exciting products to market!

This is such an excellent request. I’ve been wanting for years to replace my 22-year-old Nord Modular G2X with a 100% software instrument, but there is still nothing like it. The Modular G2 line is the most flexible synth ever made, with a fantastic sound and ultimate live playability. But it is synth-only, and although it has some modules that go beyond pure virtual analog, such as a Physical Modeling String Oscillator and DX7 Router and Operator modules, it does not support audio samples. That being said, in 2004 it was already way beyond the capabilities of the Moog Modular. And even today its routing flexibility and utility modules surpass what Cherry Audio has to offer. It would be amazing to see its concept improved upon by Arturia! Pigments is fantastic, definitely the best-sounding and most flexible non-modular synth I’ve found, so why not extend it into a fully modular system? I already have the KeyLab mk3 61 ready to play it!
