I’m trying to use MIDI CCs to control several parameters on several V Collection instruments and the filter control sounds very choppy. It sounds like the CC data stream is being decimated in some way. I know the CCs are being transmitted properly because the exact same MIDI data sounds fine on other synths.
Here are three examples of the issue, two are Arturia synths (CS-80V and Mini-V) and one is a U-He synth (Repro-5). The audio gives an odd, discretized fast-stepping sound on the Arturia synths and the expected smooth filter sweep sound on the Repro-5.
How do I get the Arturia synths to respond smoothly?
I may or may not be able to help (I hate the whole MIDI thing), but there are others here that would ask for some further info such as:
Can you detail your system setup - Windows/OSX etc and post a screenshot of your Audio Settings.
How are you controlling the MIDI CC - MIDI controller? Which one?
Are you saying that this only happens to certain Arturia plugins when you are using MIDI CC? If you manually sweep the filter with the mouse - is it as expected?
You say you are controlling several parameters. If you send ONLY MIDI CC for filter - is the result the same?
If you are using a DAW, can you try a new default project and default patches.
Yes it happens when sending only filter control CC. It happens with every controller I’ve tried and it happens when you send CCs directly from the MIDI track (i.e. not using a controller). It’s not a send issue. It’s a receive issue.
The filter sweep does happen smoothly when I control with the mouse.
I’m using Cubase 12 in Win11. Audio settings don’t matter - it happens on different setups.
I’ve found other posts describing this exact issue but I can’t find any solutions.
