My home studio and live rig is based on one hardware instrument and one controller running V Collection instruments organized in Ableton. Ableton, my DAW of choice, is always open - live or in studio.
I recently purchased a Keylab MkII and I am blown away by the integration of V Collection and the controller!!
I have always used the V Collection instruments individually as VSTs in Ableton, but now I am seeing many YouTube videos using Analog Lab as a vst in Ableton.
Experienced users, what is your advice:
Whether live or in studio, within Ableton, is it better workflow to use Analog Lab to manage your V Collection instruments or to use the individual instruments?
That’s individual. Your best workflow is what work best for you in a given situation. It does’nt have to be the one or the other.
I mostly use the individual applications
I think that’s the best when doing sound design for a single instrument.
And you can assign midi CC’s to more parameters at the same time, if you have the need for it.
And i just feel more like i’m playing that instrument.
I mostly only use Analog Lab, if i want to use it for dual layered or split sounds.
Many use Analog Lab as a preset browser. All the presets you have can be found in Analog Lab.
Also many use Analog Lab as a performance application. It has the Song and Stage functionality for this.
Thank you, LBH… I appreciate the reply.
I realize workflow is very personal. I would just appreciate hearing what other users, like yourself, have found works best for them.
Thanks for sharing your workflow and some of the why’s behind it!!
