Using Windows 7 with latest Pigments version

Anyone running on Windows 7? Any known issues? (Yes, I know it is no longer oficially supported…)

HI @Zip_oLeighter

I’m not sure you’ll get an actual response on this one, so if i were you, i’d most likely download some demos and see how it goes with them.
As you, correctly, pointed out though, we’re well past Win7 being supported, pretty much by anyone any more.

Let us know how you get on if you decide to try.

HTH!

I was running Cubase SX on a Windows 7 based laptop until last year. It was a complete non starter as far as up to date DAWs and VST plugins were concerned. I finally gave in and upgraded everything. Haven’t regretted the decision for one second.

Thank you for the input guys! I like the idea of downloading a demo, never thought of that.
I a loath to go to Win 10/11 only because my system is too old to support it. I have little enough time for music without having to reload and recreate everything I have, and the inevitable learning curve of the new OS. I have Win 10 on a work computer and it “is not liked by me” for various trivial but annoying differences between the two. I’ve had Win 7 since it became available and I don’t have to hunt for things. It is sounding like I am going to have to spring for a new system if I want to get the latest Arturia, and also I know that eventually my beloved Win 7 will die someday - better to migrate slowly and leave the Win 7 system as is while I create my environment anew.
Thanks again, I’ll post if I try a demo of something!

Hope you manage to get it working :+1:t2:

As you rightly point out, your hardware is unlikely to run any Arturia products. If you are going to buy a new system could I advise you to check out the specs for Analog Lab etc on their website and steer clear of minimum requirements in favour of the most bang for buck you can afford. That way, it will at least future proof you for a few years.

Keep in mind that Microsoft no longer support Windows 10.

If your hardware is too old and slow to run a modern Windows, then even if you get a modern Pigments running, your experience is going to be thoroughly miserable. It’s one of the most CPU-intensive VSTs Arturia make because of its capabilities and complexities.

Oh I’m not gonna get a chromebook or something! I already run V collection 8 and Pigments on my Win 7, I do OK, when I run into an issue with performance I don’t mind rendering things. I do have to be mindful to limit polyphony esp. in Pigments.
