USB connection failure

I had intermittent connection issues with the Keylab 61 Mk2 at the gig last night. The only solution was to disconnect the cable, plug it back in, and reboot the keylab. Upon inspection, there is a bit of a wiggle at the usb input in my unit. It happened 3 times during sound check last night, I ended up taping the cable to provide stress relief and a stable connection. No problem after doing that. Has anyone experienced this, and is the solution getting the usb board replaced? Running Gig Performer 5, Motu Ultralite Mk 5. My Casio PX5S never has this issue. I had a Roli Seaboard Rise that I had to replace the usb board in.

HI @donja121 and welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum!

Yes that’s going to be incredibly annoying and frustrating for sure…
Quick question, were you using the USB cable that came with your KL61, or a different one?
I’ve found over the years that cheaper ‘generic’ USB cables can sometimes be a little loose and have built up a collection of a dozen or so USB cables i keep connected to my machine to plug synths etc into as i know they are of high quality and fit firmly at both ends.
I also have a box full of flimsy, lower quality ones that will likely go to recycling at some point.

HTH!

That’s actually a good question regarding the cable. I inspected the usb input and it appears to be rock solid. Possibly the cable itself is the issue. Not sure if it’s the original one. I have Ugreen cables that I can try, I heard they were a good brand, I will see if I can reproduce the problem. If there are other brands you would recommend, I am open to suggestions. Thanks for the input!
