Updating AstroLab 61 to version 1.4.4

Hello,

If anyone runs into an issue upgrading Astrolab 61 to the latest firmware, this might be of some help.

If the upgrade fails and leaves the keyboard in a bad state, follow the steps to start it in Recovery Mode - close Analog Lab V, reboot the keyboard holding down Oct± keys, then pushing both of the keys quickly before the Arturia logo comes on. Once the display says Arturia_Recovery (or something like that), open the Analog Lab V software, but make sure that - if you’re running Windows OS - you Run as Administrator. Then attempt the update again and it should succeed. I also downloaded the firmware file to my local machine and used it instead of running the default online option.

Hope this helps and saves you a day or two of beating your head against the wall, like I did before I figured it out!

really good that you overcame this!
let’s put and a little bit of humor, we all need it nowadays!!!
i never install every update come out to my devices, i’m used from Windows, to update them every 2 updates!!! e.g, Windows XP, (not Vista)!!! Windows 7, (Not 8)!!!
Win 10 etc etc!!!
so and in this case, i’ll be waiting the next update, since i have the 1,3,5!!!
And in the x update though, i read a few comments with problems, my update worked like a charm in any case!
Always follow the guide step by step, using the original cables , etc!

  • always update from desktops! More power and stability!
    Arturia keep up!!!

Thanks! I’ve been living and working in the wild world of windows (www? - no, I think that’s taken haha!) for many years, and my tendency is to live on the edge and upgrade to the latest hardware/software versions as soon as they become production ready, but it definitely has some unwanted circumstances at times, as was the case here. Lesson learned though. Had I done this before a show or something, I would have caused problems for me and my bandmates, so I will never do that!

Keep on rockin’ in what’s left of the free world!

fully understand your point!
the issue about Astrolab, for me, is that, i totally love it. I have years to feel like i feel with this device/project.
So i can “forgive” it, for a few “errors” if they occur, since it gives me this i want. A keyboard, with so much good preset… And just to play them & feel the moment!!!
the simplicity is a challenge today!!! And Arturia did the challenge reality!

For sure. Every Gen 1 device is going to have a bit of a rough patch in the beginning, but once it gets settled in and the company believes in it, all those things tend to work themselves out. I believe in this keyboard and I hope Arturia will continue to improve it and its successors.

Cheers
