Sustain Issue - What does the value 0.00* signify?

I’m confused with the sustain pedal settings in Piano V.

I’m using a Keylab 88 MK II and an Alesis ASP-2 sustain pedal

When I load any preset and press the sustain pedal for the first time, the value on screen shows 0.00* and doesn’t sustain even though the pedal is depressed. I’ve got to lift pedal (which changes the value to 0.00) and then press a 2nd time to change the value to 1.00 (and finally hear the sustain)

I guess this is some sort of ‘initialisation’ setting but it happens on EVERY preset change and, even worse, on every TAKE when recording in a DAW.

Is this standard behaviour, or is there anything I can do to ‘fix’ things?

It’s extremely annoying so any advice or background would be useful

Thanks in advance

I don’t have the problem with my setup (sustain pedal into a digital piano as a controller). Where do you see the sustain value as a number? I don’t see that on my Piano V3.

On the bottom left of the on-screen keyboard, it displays the value when the sustain pedal is pressed, like in the attached image

I dont know if this article may be of help - but have a read:

Weird…I don’t even see that value displayed on mine (I do see it in Piano V2). But either way, I’m not having the sustain issues you are.

Try changing the polarity switch on the ASP-2 and restarting everything to see if that makes a difference.

The issue persists when the people polarity is switched (albeit the actions are reversed, as we’d expect).

I’ll double check with some other VSTs to see if it’s happening across the board or limited to Piano V3, but curious no one else seems to have the same issue

Does this happen when you run the Piano V software standalone as well or only when in your DAW?

It happens in both standalone and DAW mode.

I have a none Arturia controller.

When i open the application and when i change preset, then the first time i press the sustain pedalafter that it does’nt work. from second press it work.

If that’s what you experience, then i can confirm you are not the only one.

To me it look like some kind of initialization issue.

I suggest you contact Arturia support through your Arturia account.

Thanks, I may do that

I agree it’s likely an initialisation issue (especially blue you’ve confirmed similar behaviour) but I can’t understand why it needs to reinitialise every preset change or every take when recording.

I’d have thought initialisation should only occur once every session…

I have an Alesis ASP-1 connected to Piano-V 3 via my S61 Mk3. All works okay but I had to set it up in the settings for the keyboard, mainly to make sure it wasn’t inverted or on the wrong channel (it wasn’t).

I don’t see a value in Piano-V either, but I see the word ‘Pedals’ and an L-shaped icon lights up when I press the pedal.
