Solina V2 and PatchWork soundbank create problems in some presets

Hi

Presets like Dark Dreamer don’t give any sound when playing my MIDI keyboard. But when I select the same preset again then it can be heard.

Can this be fixed?

Hi @Aleque ,

I don’t seem to have this issue.

Does it happen all the time?
Does it matter how you select the preset?
Are you saying it’s only presets from the PatchWork soundbank that give issues?

I can suggest you try to delete the db.db3 database in your main preset folder. It will rebuild when you open applications. Just let it build for some time.
I can also suggest you try to reinstall Solina V.
If it’s only about PatchWork soundbank presets, then be sure it’s updated. if it is, then you can try to reinstall it. I presume you have a backup of your preset folder - in case it’s needed.

If this does’nt help then you can try to contact Arturia support. But i’m not sure they can do more. At least they first need to be able to reproduce they issue.

It’s hard to pin the issue, when it work here.

Hi LBH

When browsing presets in the explorer interface using the arrow keys, no sound on the following presets so far (PatchWork bank):

Bandpassing Love
Dark Dreamer
Dark Horns
Detulsating
Ensembled Organ
French Cheese

Same happens in the main interface where you see the instrument.

But when I click on the preset name in the top middle and click it again on the list to the right, then the sound is back.

In explorer, when clicking the presets on the list, then all of them work except for some of those presets from this bank, that I just mentioned. But if I click on the buggy preset again, then it works.

My DAW is Cubase 15 Pro with the latest 15.0.21 update.

Just tested Solina V2 as a standalone VST. Problem is different and smaller but still present. If the VST opens with one of those buggy presets loaded, then it does not work immediately when playing on your midi keyboard. If you switch presets and go back to the buggy preset then it works again. But if the VST has one of the other, working presets loaded, then it works right away, when launching the standalone VST.

Recap: Switch to a buggy preset in the standalone VST and close VST. Open VST and play = no sound. Switch to a working preset in the standalone VST and close VST. Open VST and play = sound.

Solina V2 version: 2.13.4.6366 (x64)

EDIT: I can see there is a new update available for my V8 Collection in the Arturia Center, but I am pretty close going through all of my presets in all of my Arturia VSTs. And I don’t want to risk breaking anything right now with new updates, until I am 100% done. It seems like no matter how much you update their software some problems remain the same and from what I’ve gathered, some people even experienced new problems after updating. So I’ll wait…

Hi again @Aleque,

I can confirm the sound is missing when those preset are selected when opening the application. At least in my short testing.

I’m not an Arturia employee and have to go now so have’nt time to do more now. At this point it’s strange. And at this point i have no other idea than i’ve suggested in my previous post.

Thanks for testing. If you experience identical bugs as me, then it doesn’t matter what I do - the bugs will remain.

I just wish there was more official Arturia presence here in the forums, so we could get more information and hopefully a fix.

It’s like every other Arturia VST has some kind of a problem or a bug.

Why can’t they focus on fixing those bugs and problems instead of releasing new products no one has asked for? Ah yes, money…

Might work for them short term, but in the long run it won’t benefit their reputation.

I’ve tried to reinstall Solina. Did’nt help.

Unfortunately it look like the reinstall for PatchWorks soundbank does’nt work in ASC.
Also the Soundpack can’t be downloaded from anywhere as a standalone installer anymore. I hope that’s a mistake.

It’s likely a preset issue for some presets in the soundbank and not about Solina V2.

But i suggest you contact Arturia support. Feel free to post a link to this topic in it.
