So, will be AL a dead or alive cat? let's complain

If you think Krome has better sounds I’ll sell you mine.

How much for the Astro lab 61?

It’s now February 2025… and I’m absolutely in love w my Astrolab. I guess patience is a virtue… most of the complaints I’ve read have been addressed. I’m really upbeat about arturia and their commitment.

I am learning more about Astrolab every day… being able to manage and select  Favorites from my iPad… and stream songs from my iPhone thru Astrolab while I’m practicing is amazing.

The vocoder is amazing.

The keyboard feel is the best.

The communication w support is great and the product continues to get better and better.

Software value is proportionate to the TLC of the company and the engineers passion. I’ve never seen passion for music innovation like this from another company.

I played many other keyboards at guitar center before buying my astrolab… and am so glad I did what I did. The more I use it the more I learn about new conveniences; how to do things with better workflows……but the best thing is that the sounds are so accessible that the tool is quickly becoming transparent and my chops are rapidly expanding.

Yes.

Having worked as a software dev for almost 60 years… I’ve not seen better, more responsive teams respond with the type of TLC that I see from Arturia.

That’s why I’m patient. I have faith, witnessing their track record… and already getting great value as is. I’ve not seen anything like this ever from Roland, Yamaha, or even Nord.

I’m still waiting for the MIDI implementation to make sense. Along with a coherent way to send program change messages, AL does NOT play nice in my dawless setup, locking incoming MIDI to channel 1 does me no good, I need to be able to set what MIDI channels AL is listening too. Like every other synth I have. Grumble.

Logbook: hoping that the new firmware will magically reappear (I imagine it was removed because it wasn’t definitive) many are hoping for a better midi implementation, other velocity curves, audio through and less latency… fingers crossed!
Yesterday new “bizarre” in the rehearsal room: switching to a preset with arpeggio in the specific category, magically the keyboard started to play a ghost note at every sound change, as if I had pressed a key and held it down, in addition to strange behaviors of LEDs lit every so many keys…
I still think that it’s still early for the stage, reliability is not its strong point!
ps. to make it go back to normal I had to turn it off and on again…
