don’t miss out on the 3 expansions that came out as well with the update - Explorations Vol 5

Well, I bought the Explorations Vol 5 expansion and it is registered, but downloading doesn’t work. It’s stuck within Pigments or Analog Lab V. When I try through “My Products” on the website, the download buttons have no HREF, so clicking does nothing. Buttons for my other expansions are correct. Something broken on your end? I submitted a support ticket.

How fast is your internet? These 150 preset expansions can take a while to download. I would just refresh Pigments or Analog Lab and then let it load via the Store.

I just added the banks to my account and downloaded, the banks loaded within a few seconds.

My internet is fast enough.
One of the banks finally loaded (Haze). I will patiently wait for the next ones. No worries. Thanks.

It’s not so much about internet speed. The Arturia server is probably getting hammered and is probably limited to a max number of consecutive connections. As the number of connections increases, it decreases each logged on customers download speed. It will eventually quieten down and speed up.

Exactly. It has improved now and I was able to download. Thanks.

FWIW since Arturia is listening: on Windows 11 (up to date) and ASC (also up to date) the upgrade was botched somehow, and Pigments was DOA afterwards, wouldn’t open at all. Ended up having to uninstall/reinstall the full synth to restore Pigments. Haven’t started diving into the new features yet, but it was a mildly bumpy ride getting here.

Again, just FYI for their QA and ASC teams.

Yes - Thanks Arturia for some free tasty and useful new features and updates over and under the hood to Pigments 7.

Good point, LBH!

The new features seem to be oriented more towards distortion (rage, ripple) pleasing users of bass and stab (many bass and stab presets). I’m non standard; two basses are enough for me.

But I reserve my judgment since I like dirty, hazy keys and pads and distortion plays a role in haziness (reverb and lofi filter). There are so many great presets already; they can be enhanced by the new features. The play window is nice and gives quick access to the main parameters.

I notice there are many new designers (nasko, tutara peak, sidejoy, etc.). They’re probably young and know what young people like.
There’s something I don’t understand: their pieces for Explorations 5 are drum’n’beat to me, quite far from trap or rage genre which I see as very slow hip hop.
I’m genre confused .

I find the new filters interesting too. They for example add distortion pr voice.
The new FX Corroder is also interesting.
The new FM options added to the Classic filters have i and others wished for.
Snappier envelopes are very welcome and also wished for by users. So are the announced CPU usage reduction.
The new Wavetables and Samples are welcome too. A list what they are would be welcome.
Just to mention some new things in Pigments 7.

This is more often the case with any server during a “high demand” phase.

Very, very occasionally this will happen with any download. Especially if there is some kind of service disruption at any point between your computer and the server you’re trying to download from.

Typically a download is broken into much smaller chunks (packets) to make transference easier. If there is an issue somewhere while you’re downloading, the server typically redirects the packet to take another route.

Usually this all works really well and we’ve been running out lives like this for decades. There are just times where we don’t end up receiving all the parts, or there is some other kind of corruption and our file ends up DOA, as you put it.

But thats okay in most cases, as we can just generally download a new copy. Even though it can be a PIA.

Hello.

Thanks for reporting it, we’ll dig into that.
We don’t have many reports of this kind on Windows but I’ll try to reproduce.

Since we do check our installers hashes post-download, I’ll say that’s more likely to be an installation issue than a download one here, but I liked the OSI networking layer explanation you’ve done here

Cheers !
