Seeing automation lines when recording MicroFreak in Ableton

Hi. I have set up the MicroFreak so that is can record and playback MIDI in Ableton. No issues there. The issue is that I would love to be able to see any modulation changes (filter, resonance, cut off etc) that I make when recording, like an automation lane. Is this possible.

I can select the ‘MIDI Overdub’ button in Ableton and then record the modulation such as playing with the filter. This works and I can hear the modulation as I playback. However, visually I cant see these changes in Ableton. It would be ideal to see this in an automation red line and would be really useful for making adjustments and fine tuning.

Is this possible?

I think what you want is to look at the correct Envelope(s) in your MIDI Clip.

For example, I recorded a MIDI track from my Microfreak and turned the Cutoff knob as I played. After opening the recorded MIDI clip in Ableton, I clicked the Envelope tab above the clip, and in the selectors at the lower-left of the clip, I selected “MIDI Ctrl” and “23: Undefined”. The blue line showing my Cutoff changes is displayed in the MIDI clip. You can then manually adjust it like any other automation envelope in Ableton.

Oh my gosh. You are an absolute legend. thank you so much. Spent about 3 hours trying to work this out last night! haha.
Thank you!
