When the Timbre knob (a voice-level chorus effect, labeled Shape) of the SawX oscillator is above 0, the phase of the SawX oscillator seems to be jumping every few seconds. This happens even though the Shape knob (random phase modulation, labeled Noise), which presumably is responsible for the phase modulation, is set to 0. I have recorded a video that shows the oscillator phase jumping every few seconds under the described conditions: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15mniBpHz0xkQn36tx0z31CU4GfnDkrIu/view
I don’t know how the original Noise Engineering oscillators work, but it seems reasonable to assume that 0 means 0?
You can see sawX here: Noise Engineering’s New Stereo Oscillator:
As you can see in the video, then it does’nt look like the original have the Chorus (Shape) parameter. The Chorus added is like if you add a Chorus effect in MiniFreak’s Effect section.
To me it look like MiniFreaks Chorus (Shape) Parameter detune multiple Saw waves Slightly - The Phase of each wave is shiftet. There is some drift that create this glitch. I would like that glitch/ jump removed. A Chorus effect should be more smooth.
I have no idea if all this is intended. I assume and think so. Perhaps the chorus (Shape) should work different.
Perhaps Arturia support can tell you more.
I found this h MiniFreak video that work like it does in your video. Watch from 46:54 -
EDIT: The SuperWave Detune does’nt glitch, so it’s likely intended the sawX does. But again, i can’t tell for sure. EDIT END
I realized today that a VST version of the Noise Engineering’s SawX is available for free, so I compared them and it seems to do the exact same thing. So I conclude that it must be working as intended. Here is another video for comparison, it seems identical to the Minifreak implementation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pmxtcQ21xhgRPkkuVnd021XsVX5ocr-x/view?usp=sharing
