In Arturia mode, the save button, when used in conjunction with the user memory buttons, allows you to save custom parameter settings for Arturia instruments.
“The Keylab Essential has 8 memories. Two of them are not editable (read-only), however the six remaining can be fully customised.”
Hmm, interesting! I sent you a reply a couple of days ago but somehow it didn’t post.
So, first of all, thanks for your help, Joseph. Appreciate that and by following your link, I learnt something that I didn’t know before. So thanks again for that.
However, that was not my question. My question related to the actual, physical SAVE button on the Arturia KeyLab Essential mk3 49 key that is located to the left of Quant, Undo, and Redo buttons.
I’ve yet to find a description of this button anywhere.
According to the manual that I downloaded from Arturia site, it says, “The twelve buttons to the left of the Display are all DAW related, although Save, Undo and Redo can also be used in Arturia Software.”
So again, how is this Save (and Undo/Redo) button can be used in Arturia software as mentioned in the manual?
Sorry for being dense but any help will be greatly appreciated.
My pleasure! Glad there was something useful there, even if not answering your original question
Say you’ve tweaked sound settings within a preset in Analog Lab and want to preserve those changes, the Save button should do just that. Similarly, Undo would revert the last change (eg: modifying a sound or parameter), while Redo would reapply the action that was undone.
Ah, neat! Thanks, Joseph. I am at work right now but can’t wait to get home and try tonight. Thanks so much for your help. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
That didn’t work out, Joseph. Sorry. I opened Analog Lab, picked an instrument, modified its properties, but the SAVE button is not even lighted. Pressing it doesn’t do anything.
This is all without Abelton Live running.
Can you verify it on your instrument? Maybe I am missing something in my setting?
Hi Joseph, thank you for sticking with me. I went to the link you provided and all I see is firmware download for KeyLab Essential mk3 61. Is it the same for mk3 49?
On the other hand, when I open up my Arturia Software Center, all my three installed programs (Analog Lab Play 5.10.7.5324, KeyLab Essential 49 mk3, and MIDI Control Center 1.19.0.109) are listed as ‘No update available’. I have tried the ‘Synchronize’ button in it but that doesn’t change anything.
Any other idea? To be frank, it is not stopping me from learning the ins and out of this wonderful instrument so in the grand scheme of things, it’s not a very big deal. It’s just I am a bit puzzled and intrigued by what it does in the Arturia software as mentioned in the manual.
Yes, I believe the firmware is the same. It sounds like you’re up to date on the software side though!
Sorry I can’t get to the bottom of this with you. As far as I’m aware, it should work for saving preset changes. Unfortunately, I don’t have a KeyLab to test it on. I think the best thing would be for the Arturia support team to look into it for you, they’re specialists at troubleshooting these kinds of things - Ask for help | Arturia - The Sound Explorers
I hope you can continue to enjoy exploring and using it in the meantime!
Thanks for your help, Joseph. I’ll try to reach out to the Arturia help but it’s not a priority. Like I said, I am thoroughly enjoying this controller and everyday I am learning new things. My expertise level at this point, on a scale of 1 and 10, is around 3 (LOL) so I have a long way to go but understanding the machine, Keylab V, and Abelton 10 is a wonderful journey that I am glad I’ve undertaken. I do have years of keyboard/piano playing experience so that’s coming quite handy in this new learning process.
Thanks again. I probably would be asking more questions in future right here in this forum and would look forward to your expert knowledge.
