Renaming knobs on Minilab 3

Hi all!
I have been the lucky owner of this device not long ago, thank you very much for it!
I use the controller without DAW in tandem with 1010 Music Blackbox, PreenFM2 and other desktop synthesizers.

Very much missing the function of changing the names of the knobs. With them - to use the device would be much more user-friendly, otherwise I have to stick over the label with tape…given the two banks and 5 user modes - it’s blasphemy, haha.

On the old forum users wrote about it, and here, surprisingly not yet.
Seems like a simple feature, but it will make the device even more popular among DAWless users!

Hi @metra.vestlud. Welcome to the community.

Which names where do you mean?

When using user presets of the controller, it is better to see the Cutoff label on the screen rather than Knob 1.

I using Minilab for set up Midihub and Blackbox.
Controlling Midihub functions via display more usable! For example midi note randomizer (Chance param) or midi delay (time, feedback, etc.) or CC LFO (Rate, Depth) and many many things.
With knob names I could also use user 2 mode to customize parametrs on PreenFM2 (the instrument itself only has 4 knobs).
It would also be cool to assign functions in Blackbox to knobs. For example Pitch or Cutoff.

But without displaying on the screen what I’m turning, the functionality of the knobs is very limited.

Agree, that’s the feature that is missing.
It should be possible to give knobs custom names in MIDI Control Center app.
So when you adjust e.g. Knob 1 on the MiniLab, the built-in display says “Cut-off” and not Knob 1. I’m surprised such an obvious feature wasn’t implemented from the get go. And it’s 2022 device, so had plenty of time to add this. I guess it didn’t sell well, so that’s why it didn’t get enough attention. And there’s likely next version is coming, so why bother.
