Hi, anyone have any tips for recording electric guitar into the minifuse 4? I am using input one with the hi input (guitar symbol) active into ableton using guitar rig 7. My issue however is that the gain seems to clip very easily with the indicator on the gain knob frequently turning red with heavy strumming of power chords and it is only set to a quarter to a third of the way around. This is before the signal passes into any software. At the same time i don’t get a lot of nice saturation with distortion with the gain turned down this low. I have also tried with the hi input turned off which allows me to turn the gain up to about 3 quarters getting a good steady signal without clipping but it too sounds like i am not getting the full depth of signal even when playing cleanly without distortion effects. Is there a way i can compensate or lower the input gain Db on the interface through the minifuse by lowering it on channel 1 where i have the guitar plugged into? I am using a Jackson electric with a boost switch but even when it is disengaged it appears my signal is too hot. Any help would be welcome thanks.
@tekkaz72 have you tried using a volume pedal before you hit the hi z input? Possibly use a compressor before that too?
HTH!
Hey thanks a lot for your reply. I have not considered those options but may be a suitable workaround. Mine seems to be a pretty isolated and unique issue so maybe my guitar is just sending too hot of a signal for some reason. I’ll also try my friend’s stock standard stratocaster to see if the issue persists. I was sure there was a way to adjust the default db input value on the minifuse but cannot remember how to do it.
