Question - How do I stop the transport when I stop Ableton?

Hi. New to the forum, so this is my first post. I have the Beatstep Pro receiving sync from Ableton Live 11. When I press play on Live, the Beatstep Pro plays, but when I hit stop, the Beatstep Pro pauses. I would prefer it to stop, as it is sending clock and run to my modular clock (ALM Pam’s). Without a stop message, Pam’s just keeps running. And if I stop and restart manually on Beatstep Pro, the start is not quantized with Live. It’s an extra couple of steps I’d like to reduce to one touch of the space bar in Live. Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks, Matt

Hi mattyfalx,

And welcome to forum!

There is a chance that this is just how it functions with ableton. But please raise a support ticket and our technical team will be able to help you:

Thanks!

Hi Joe. Thanks for responding. Actually whatever I used to send transport messages to the Beatstep Pro or my Keystep, neither of them translate it as a stop message. Instead the play/pause button flashes. This means my modular setup keeps running. So I definitely think it’s something to do with the Beatstep Pro and Keystep. I will send a message as you suggest. But I’m just putting it out there that it seems a bit of an afterthought to not have explicit parameters in the MIDI Control Centre for this. It can’t be a coincidence that both my Arturia controllers do the same thing with my Octatrack and with Ableton Live when I send a stop message.

Yeah it is possible, sadly I don’t personally have experience with the step controllers. Support will be trained in this stuff though.

If you find that there is a setting missing here, then it can be something we can request to be added in an update : )
