I installed the “Pure LoFi” instrument for testing and I’m surprised by the enormous CPU resource consumption when running just a single instance of it. It doesn’t matter whether I use the standalone version or the plugin in a DAW — with a 256-sample buffer, it’s impossible to play without crackles and CPU load reaching 90% (for example, the preset “A Forest Of Tiny Things”).
My computer is a 2019 Mac Pro with a 28-core Xeon processor, 256 GB of RAM, and a fast SSD (read/write speeds around 2700 MB/s), macOS Sonoma. Until now, I’ve been running projects with a huge number of other instruments like Kontakt, Arturia ,Roland Cloud, u-he, and many others in a single session, and at these buffer settings everything runs very smoothly.
How is it even possible to use Pure LoFi in a session if running just one instance completely “kills” the computer?
All the best
