I have a problem with Logic. I’m playing a sequence, I have routed a "Pigments’’ track (this contains the sequence) to another plugin. (For example Vital, Zyklop, etc). But now I have the problem that it triggers the “B2” key. I don’t even touch that key. But the volume gets louder and louder. What’s is the problem??
It happens in every plugin, even when I use an external synth app on my iPhone in Logic on my laptop.
In this example I have used Vital. I’m holding the C2 key in the Vital track to activate the sequence. So it’s playing the C2 key, and the sequence. (That is also annoying, I don’t want to play that C2 key in every sequence. Sometimess I can remove that “C2” in the edit. Then I have a nice sequence. But when I need that “C2” key when I press the C2 key, I got some strange MIDI results.
Vital uses the sequence from Pigments. Pigments itself doesn’t make any sound. It never happened to me before. Everything is up-to-date. So it’s very strange for me… And it only occurs when I’m using the sequence from Pigments.
You should not have the Vital track set to record your manual note input. You shall play the note for the Pigments track.
I’m not sure how this works in Logic. But apparently you can record Pigments sequenced notes. So on the track that record thise notes you should not have any midi inputs enabled beside from Pigments.
This is in the Vital track, this works for me. When I try to do that in the Pigments track, it doesn’t work, or don’t want to play the sequence. It keeps resetting the sequence.
The Pigment track shall only be set to get your Manual midi input - the notes you manually play.
Not sure why you have both input and output options available. Can you just select Pigments that’s checked? If not, then i would select the output option. But i don’t know how this work.
I do know that Logic is speciel about be able to do this - or have been. I can suggest you ask in a logic forum.
It’s about the MIDI Input setting i believe.
For the Pigments track this should be your controller. ALL is ok as long it’s does’nt included midi data from another playing source.
On the Vital track it shall not be ALL but only Pigments - Pigments output.
As said, i suggest you ask about the routing in a Logic forum.
I don’t know if this article can provide any help, but perhaps:
Actually on the Vital track, the MIDI Input should not be set to All. It should be set to None since you are receiving your internal MIDI input from Pigments. Otherwise the track will receive MIDI input from both sources.
All of your MIDI input should be done on the Pigments track. . you then record the arpeggiated output on the Vital track. Your screenshot is Highlighting the Vital which is taking your MIDI input, thus your issue.
This isn’t working for me how I want it. I want also control/automate the filters etc from Vital. How I did it usually worked, but now it don’t work anymore… idk why…
with Pigments the way I have routed the MIDI.
There is no MIDI input on the pigments track, but on the “Zyklop” track in this example, I have used the output of the Pigment track. I only have to delete the “C2” key that I was triggering. The “B2” key wasn’t triggering, that MIDI was recorded before I updated Pigments what I can remember now.
But when I try to get this sound, I get this sound + the triggering “B2” key…
If you are referring to your screenshot above, I find it difficult to believe that it worked the way you wanted it to as is. The track with Vital is highlighted which means you are in live mode. With both MIDI in set to All and your internal MIDI set to Pigments you are going to get MIDI from all sources.
The only possibilities that I can see within Logic is to either limit the key range on the Vital track or use a stacked instrument track.
This how it worked no ‘stuck/sustained B2-Key’ only the “C2-key” that I was triggering, but it wasn’t present in the sequence, so I deleted that sustained "C2-key’’ because I don’t need that key.
I’m not that good in Logic, not a profession producer or something. Just doing this for fun.
So I don’t know what’s the best way to route the MIDI, but I found out that this worked for me.
Also please please buy beg or borrow a Midi controller, even if it’s just the cheapest you can find with 25 mini keys. ‘Musical typing’ is utterly soul destroying.
