I encountered a very serious issue while using various presets within a playlist.
It happened several times that when switching from one preset to another without giving any specific command, Astrolab lowered the keyboard by a few semitones. When I exited the playlist and selected another random instrument, the semitones returned to normal.
You can imagine how dangerous such an error can be, for example, during a live performance.
I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this issue, and if so, how to resolve it.
I use Playlists all the time and never encountered this issue.
Are you sure that one (or more) presets used in your Playlist has not been saved with some transposition in the Keyb. Settings of the Part?
(not with the Oct+/- transpose buttons, which light up anytime the keyboard is transposed)
To check this, whenever a preset is transposed, press Shift+Split (MIDI), select the Part on the display and scroll down to the Transpose parameter.
I checked, but the transpose is correct. The problem is that, besides the semitone shift, when changing presets, the instrument seems āout of tune.ā I know it sounds strange, but I could eventually provide video tests to support what Iām telling you. The two presets Iām using are included in a playlist in this order:
When I switch from preset number two to number three, the DX is clearly out of tune.
If I quickly switch back to the previous preset and then return to the same preset, it āmagicallyā returns to normal.
Again, it sounds strange to read, but if there is a way to share a video, I will attach it to show the issue.
EDIT
Sorry, I thought it was possible to attach videos, but I was mistaken (Iām not very familiar with forums). How can I attach the video? Itās important because you can clearly see the pitch changes between presets and the moment when the preset goes out of tune.
I tried the exact same Playlist and didnāt notice any transpose nor tuning issue.
Is your AstroLab receiving MIDI/USB from another device?
If so, could there be some unwanted pitch-bend messages (for instance, sent for the Cage Lead?)
For the video, you have to upload it to any video hosting (YouTube, ā¦) or file sharing (Dropbox, ā¦) site, and copy/paste the hyperlink / URL here.
As you can see from the video, Astrolab does not receive MIDI/USB from another device. When I change the preset and return to the DX, it starts to change pitch and sounds out of tune. After changing it a few times, it goes back to normal. At this point, I canāt help but think that it might be a defect with my instrument."
Yes, I updated to the latest version 1.3.0, and if necessary, I will try reinstalling it as you suggested.
However, honestly, contacting support just 14 days after purchase makes me question the reliability of the instrument, which wasnāt exactly cheap either.
Just to clear something up, is it possible that you inadvertently āeditedā those presets in Analog Lab V somehow?
Have you tried using ALV to remedy the situation?
I wanted to try this out in Analog Lab, but I donāt have that DX Roads preset. Is that something you made yourself, or is it from a Sound Pack I donāt own?
No, Iām sure I didnāt edit the preset in Analog Lab. I simply selected the presets and added them to the playlist.
Thatās why I donāt understand why itās causing this problem.
Ok, thanks for the reply, someone had to ask of course.
I think it would be a good idea for you to log in to your account to contact our support team as it does seem there is something very weird going on and iām sure theyād be VERY interested to hear from you.
