But the source instrument is not being processed by Pigments. I still hear two distinct instruments when I play (in my case, it’s Stage-73 and Pigments). I’m sure this is because I need to route Pigments and/or Stage-73 to someplace other than my main output (Output 1-2 in the pic below) or use the Sends slot to send it for processing.
Does anyone know or have a suggestion where the Pigments/Stage-73 signals should be going from either the main output or Sends slots? Here are the Send slot dropdown options (the Patch Bus dropdown is shown; the Bus dropdown offers 64 Bus choices).
I’m already way into the trial and error stage here but haven’t figured it out yet. I think it’s a case of my not understanding how the sound coming into Pigments gets routed back out.
In my DAW i have two options for the sidechain. I can select SEND and OUTPUT.
When i select OUTPUT then i can’t hear the source track. I get the output from the source track send into Pigments. I can’t hear the source track it self, when this option is selected.
When i select SEND, then a send in the source track is created. I can then also select if the sidechain shall be pre or post fader. If it’s pre fader, then i can turn down the volume for the source track so i can’t hear it, and still get the signal send into Pigments.
I don’t know how Mainstage can handle this. But perhaps look in Mainstage manual or see if a web search can find something to help.
I don’t change other output routing.
In your case i understand you use Stage Piano as source. Can’t you for example set up a send for that track to send the audio pre fader for Pigments to catch through the sidechain, so you can turn down the volume for the Stage V track?
Hope this can help.
If someone know about how Mainstage handle this then please step in.
EDIT:
Just in case. I assume you know, but if not, then be sure the “AUDIO IN” is selected in Pigments Utility Engines second sample slot.
