Pigments 7 stand-alone app not responding after first use

After installing Pigments 7.0.0.6447, I can launch the stand-alone application once. After I close the application, it will not launch a second time, not even after booting, but remains in a “not responding” state. It is quite a heavy operation to reinstall the application every time I want to use it in stand-alone mode.

Plugin seems to work ok while the standalone app does not.
Any ideas what might be wrong. In this win11 system I have V Collection X / 11 Pro and FX Collection 5 installed and I have never had similar problems with other Arturia sofware.

HI @tiari

Have you tried completely uninstalling Pigments, not just using the uninstaller from ASC or Windows?
I know it seems like a pain, but sometimes a totally clean install is the way to go, make sure you back up any personal presets firs though.

Also check C:\Program Files\Arturia,
Delete the folder C:\ProgramData\Arturia\Pigments (you might want to back up any user presets you might have before doing this.
you can find them in C:\ProgramData\Arturia\Presets\Pigments,
and any user samples you might have,
C:\ProgramData\Arturia\Samples\Pigments.

Restart your machine after doing so and then reinstall Pigments from ASC, then restart your machine again, then run Pigments and let us know what happens then.

HTH!

Okay, I will try this. But before I do: when you say ‘also check C:\Program Files\Arturia’, what should I check there?

Just check there for anything Pigments related, that SHOULD clear everything and allow for a totally fresh installation.
Just one thought, have you tried right-clicking on the Pigments icon that you use to launch it, and selecting ‘run as administrator’ out of interest yet?
That’s often worth a try before anything else, try that first, if that doesn’t work, then try the above and let us know how you get on.

Cheers!

Yes, I tried ‘run as administrator’ but it didn’t work out. I will now try your suggestions, let’s see what happens.

Before embarking on the suggested procedure, I wanted to confirm that all standalone instruments were functioning as intended. Unfortunately, they weren’t: nine out of the thirty‑one Arturia instruments behaved like Pigments. Additionally, ACS flagged two instruments as “not installed,” even though they appeared in the Control Panel’s list of installed applications. I removed those two apps via the Control Panel’s uninstall function, and then used ACS to uninstall the remaining problematic Arturia apps and then reinstalled them.

After a reboot, everything seems to be working fine. I have no clue what caused the issue, but for now I’m back on track and ready to go.

Thanks!

Hi @tiari and thanks for the update, great to see your system is as it should be now.
I’ll close this thread as it’s resolved, if you have the same issue, drop myself, or one of the other mods, and we’ll reopen it for you.

Cheers!
