Hi,
Will a install on Snow leopard work? I have recently configured an older Protools 10 HD setup with some 192 converters HD3 cards and a control24.
I have recently acquired a keylab 88MKII and would like to install analog lab. And I am looking into upgrading to the V collection X package. Offcourse I would looze some synths the weren’t made for Snow leopard I suppose.
Welcome to the forum.
That OSX is over 15 years old.
The keyboard may work on a MIDI level - but I am not even sure of that.
Analog Lab and the V Collection X definitely will not work.
The requirements for Analog Lab are:
- Mac OS 11+
- 4 GB RAM
- 4 cores CPU, 3.4 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo-boost) or M1 CPU
- 4GB free hard disk space
- OpenGL 2.0 compatible GPU
Thank you Funtmaster.
I could go the route of a dedicated laptop and then go stereo into my control24. I have 3 apple laptops with Catalina. So that should work out.
Here it says Snow Leopard can run V collection. Does not say what version. But that would motivate me to buy the newest version then ask Arturia for some older downloads.
Or maybe sell your 3 old laptops and buy a new one which will be much more capable for now and the future. If you are serious about making music, it would be a good investment.
I am running Pro Tools 10 HD with older end of the line hardware. I can upgrade the laptops. They run Catalina. And I can upgrade them. I don’t like computers that are not fixable. The Mac Pro’s and the Mac laptops are.
Ok. It sounds like you are prepared to live with the limitations that older hardware will impose upon you in terms of performance and a loss of new features and improvements in newer software which you will likely not be able to run. That’s your choice.
Well, I just got a Macbook Pro with Catalina. And I have a second Mac Pro 5.1 that will be dual boot once a HDX card is present. I allso have a Pro tools 8HD license. The control24 can have 16 inputs from two db25 inputs as a seperate line mixer so I can have a second machine running.
This is the first phase. I am very dissapointed there are no other controller mixers on the market like this control24. I do think it is a rather compelling machine. Besides the SSL Matrix that is.
In this initial phase… less is more. I do hope to keep most things out of the box. I do have a eventide channelstrip plugin. I think that is enough for now. I hope to make most in a fixed state so it is recall template, rename template to project and off I go. The HD3 set can be expanded to 64 channels input. So if I need like 16 stereo tracks for insert efx I can go there.
I now have 4 Macbook Pro’s 13 inch. If one fails I take out the ssd and pop it in another Macbook. With current Mac laptops memory and ‘solidstate memory’ is soldered. If something happens you are screwed. This hardware still can be upgraded to Sequoia if need be. I will still be able to revive broken stuff. At acceptable prices (for my income),
I found under ‘My licenses’ > Analog lab V Pro a tab under downloads that says ‘Archives’. Under there you can find older versions.
