Number of Envelopes

Hello World,
On the MicroFreak, I set the initial ADSR of a wave form . Now for the same waveform I modulate the pitch and timbre with the same ADSR using the mod matrix. So I tweak the ADSR till get the right timbre and pitch. Now since I changed the ADSR for the pitch and timbre, wont I loose the initial ADSR I set?

To simplify, if we look at Vital, the popular Software Synth, we have around 5-6 ADSR envelopes. I can use one envelope for Pitch, the next for Timbre etc etc. Each independent of each other.
I understand with the Cyclic Envelope, I basically have two Envelopes to modulate the various parameters, but to be specific,

Can we do the same with MicroFreak like Vital. My understanding is we have two ADSR envelopes with MicroFreak. One is the standard one and the other is the Cyclic Envelope which we can run in any one of 3 different modes and thats it

Many Thanks

Hi Mithun,

Thanks for using MicroFreak!

Indeed, the MicroFreak has only two envelopes.

Using the classic ADSR to modulate pitch and timbre will also affect the amplitude envelope, so adjusting it will alter your initial amplitude settings.

To manage these parameters independently, you can use the Cycling Envelope in “Env” mode to modulate pitch and timbre while keeping the ADSR dedicated to amplitude.

The MicroFreak has a more streamlined envelope system compared to Vital, meaning certain complex modulations won’t be possible in the same way. However, its unique architecture and modulation capabilities offer a different creative approach, inspiring new and unconventional sound design possibilities.

I hope this answers your question!

Bests,
