I see a new version of Pigments announced. What has been the average turnaround time in the past for AstroLabs to be compatible with updated plugin versions?
Hi, AstroLab will be Pigments 7 compatible in an upcoming update. I cannot give an exact date for this but it will be early next year.
Historically (bearing in mind that by ‘historically’ I mean AstroLab hasn’t been around for two years yet) this ends up being the fly in the ointment for AstroLab owners: waiting for the firmware on their instrument to be patched to be compatible with the latest VSTs and V Collections they may have brought or upgraded to. Since customers don’t have any expectation about when the next update to a certain VST or V Collection is going to drop, I don’t understand why Arturia don’t delay releases until AstroLab firmware is ready to drop with it.
For all that i’m not really an Apple fanboi despite my owning a Mac and an iPhone, they do set a good example for this kind of stuff. You wouldn’t find for example brand new Apple hardware being incompatible with each other or with the current operating systems. I realise that’s not a perefect analogy, but still.
