New song with Mini V to check out! Can return the favor!

I put a new song in my music website called “Part of The Time”; it’s the song on top. It has some Mini V and some non-Arturia synths. Please tell me how you like the song and how it can be improved, and I will return the favor (leave me a link if you don’t have a recent thread). Here is my link:

Quite nice!
I’d say more “compact”. I like the accompanying voices and the long phrases at 2/3 that sound I would say “middle eastern”. Maybe the historian MatJones will tell what musical currents it evokes.
It’s probably the scale you’re using that is non standard.
The Polynesian whale is quite small. Here in Quebec the belugas and whales are usually quite big. French? Did you record a sample? I’m quite good in French accents.

I’ll take that as a compliment :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The intro reminded me of Jah Wobble a fair bit, particularly around his ‘Take me to God’ album.
The next, rocky section is pretty far outside my own musical tastes, so i can’t really comment on it as i just don’t know enough about that type of music.
Picking up hints of Cabaret Voltaire /John Foxx in the final section…
Hope that’s of some use! :+1::grin::+1:

If ever something I utter in my broken English is not construed as a compliment I beg forgiveness for temporary loss of consciousness
I have so many books by historians on the rise of fascism (Kershaw, Fest) or the fall of the USSR (Stephen Kotkin).

Jah Wobble, yes!! From John Foxx, I know only Underpass.

Lol no i took it as a compliment.

Whenever i hear the title ‘Underpass’, it always reminds me of a school disco i went to MANY years ago, some genius, it wasn’t me this time , decided to shout ‘UNDERPANTS’ in the choruses… and of course everyone joined in, much to the chagrin of the teaching staff.

Underpants! LOL! A good one!

francoise,
Thank you for listening and commenting! I appreciate it! I am pretty certain the whale is a humpback whale (a “baby”). Google says they are between 10-15 feet long at birth. The whale photo was taken from a video I shot. I shot the video with a GoPro; if it doesn’t have a fisheye lens, it seems close to that. It makes everything look far away, and smaller. When I was in the water, with that whale, I estimated it was about 20 feet (about 6 meters) long. I know it looks smaller in the photo. The whale swished its tail around, and the tail came very close to some people; the tail looked about 5 feet wide. Judging from that, I would say the whale was at least 15 feet long. In a different video I shot, the whale swam down towards its (probably) mother, which looked about twice as big. As the baby swam down, it made a sound like flatulence, so I wouldn’t ask you to decipher which accent that would be. Hahaha!

matjones,
Thank you for listening and replying! I appreciate it, including the humor. I had a girlfriend long ago that was into John Foxx and Cabaret Voltaire; I will take that as a compliment. I just listened to some Cabaret Voltaire on youtube, because I forgot what they sounded like.

Edit: I have heard of Jah Wobble before, but don’t recall hearing them before. Just listened to their song “Becoming More Like God”: yes, I hear some similarity between that and my song.

I thought it could be a baby whale. I have a friend who does mountain biking with a Go-Pro and I know the “distorsion” it can produce. But how helpful even underwater!
Flatulence is part of my training

I am impressed! Haha!
