I put a new song in my music website called “Every Day”, it is the song on top. It uses some Arturia Jup-8 V4 synth and Solina-V, and some non-Arturia synths. Please tell me how you like the song, and how it can be improved, and I can return the favor if you wish (leave me a link). Here is my link:
Definite shades of Bowie and PIL in this one, the ‘New Wave’ (as it was known at the time) vibe is VERY prevalent here.
Sounds like you MIGHT have been listening to some of that early Adam & his Ants stuff too, listening to some of those progressions.
Touches of bands like Magazine, again some Fad Gadget (are you SURE you’re not Frank Tovey in hiding? ) with some interesting synth touches!
Great! I got early Adam and the Ants vibes as well. Really enjoyed that.
matjones,
Thank you for listening and commenting! I really appreciate it! I am pretty sure I am not Tovey, but I do like some Fad Gadget, and Adam and his Ants.
I like it!
I’d say the tracks are more balanced, your singing style is a bit more subdued, controlled.
I don’t know early Ants and the Bowie I know starts in the nineties, so I can’t compare.
The beginning with drum and strong bass reminded me of Bauhaus, Peter Murphy.
bigblip,
Thank you for listening and replying! I appreciate it!
francoise,
Thank you for checking out my song, and reviewing it! I appreciate it! David Bowie’s first hit song was in 1969, but I didn’t really get into rock music until the early 70’s. Though I listened to rock music at night in the 1960’s a bit before I went to sleep, as a child. I saw Bowie play live in Los Angeles in 1990. Adam & the Ants had their first hit in 1980, and I must have heard them on the radio in the '80’s.
Something I did this morning Embrace The Suck 5 tracks of Jupiter 8 Arturia plug in, in my Pro Tools Studio. Hope you enjoy! Cheers all! Steve
hammondo74,
Embrace the Suck? That could have multiple meanings. Haha. Some of your song sounds dissonant to me, but otherwise I like it. I saw the Steve Miller Band perform within the last year or so (they were big in the 1970’s in the USA). Since you posted your song on my thread, maybe you could return the favor and review my song at the top of the thread?
I love dissonance in fact I composed a piece by that name. Among my favorite composers that use dissonance include Modest Mussorgsky. I have been working close to a year to have his 45 page composition Pictures At An Exhibition up to speed and memorized. I can presently play its first 19 pages without the music in front of me. I mostly listen to classical and progressive rock music. I never did see the other Steve Miller but i have more solo releases than he did with the Steve Miller Band. Also I still perform regularly whereas he canceled all of this 2025 North American tour, due to weather concerns. I made clear to my friends this Steve Miller is still performing. I compose and record 5 or more songs every week. Yes I will listen to your efforts as soon as the Mariners complete game 4 of the ALDS;-) Cheers my friend! Steve
I am still seeing a 403 Forbidden error when attempting to listen to your song Every Day, aaron aardvark, I am sorry to report. Else I would have listened to it. As a retired network security engineer I suspect it may be to my use of a VPN but am not willing to turn off the VPN in order to troubleshoot, because I am a retired network security engineer, ironically;-). Perhaps someone at Arturia will comment? Cheers all! Steve
I used to work at a place for over 24 years. If I shared my music website address with anyone at work, it usually didn’t work at their work computer. But it always worked on my work computer until the last year or two I worked there. They kept getting tighter security with the work computers, because hackers were trying to break into our work computers. Sometimes all of the security made it more difficult to get work done at work.
