Is it just me, or a recognized issue? Very often the unit will not respond when I press Mute - then either I have to do some kind of dance with buttons (for example, first disable the Listen button on Input 1) for it to respond; other times it simply won’t respond, in which case so far the AudioFuse Control Center has come to the rescue - it responds immediately. Any idea if I can do things differently, or is this a quirk of the device? Otherwise am loving it, with its perfect routing options, great aesthetic and lovely sound.
Oh and I hope they allow some kind of gearing of the main volume knob, the current setting is way too “loose” for (my) normal use/adjustment!
Happy music making all
Helloo archurrh, welcome to our community. Could you help us narrow down where the problem could be coming from? Check / add these please:
-
When Mute does not respond, check the Mute button light. Does it change (light up or go dark) even though the sound does not change? Or does it stay exactly as it was? This one detail tells us a lot, so it is the most important thing to look for.
-
Check whether any Listen button is on. Look at the four input channels and note if any Listen button is lit at that moment.
-
Tell us your versions. Open AudioFuse Control Center, and from the menu note the AFCC version and the firmware version of the unit. Also let us know your operating system. If AFCC offers a firmware update, please install it and see if the behaviour changes.
Thanks!
Hi @lily.arturia and thanks for the reply! Here is the info requested:
-
When Mute doesn’t respond - the Mute button light also is not responsive, it stays lit. I have never had a situation where the light and the Mute status disagree, fyi.
-
This situation only happens when a Listen button is on. I usually have Input 1 Listen on at all times. Your question raises some other questions for me though:
a. It can’t possibly be by design that the Mute button doesn’t operate if a Listen button is enabled? If it’s a feature, that doesn’t make sense to me as I would definitely want the option to Mute everything even if a Listen button is enabled. Also, this behaviour is not always the case. In fact, it seems more as though the Mute button becomes “stuck” on some occasions, and that disabling/re-enabling the Listen button “unsticks” the Mute button.
b. Continuing the assumption that it is a stuck/unstuck situation, this actually seems to affect the Listen button as well, as it does not immediately go off - i have to keep it pressed for a few seconds, sometimes doing that 2-3 times, before the Listen light goes off; only then does the Mute button respond. After that, it becomes difficult to re-enable the Listen button as well, for some reason… almost like the buttons are infecting each other lol
c. To verify -currently I am Mute/UnMuting and the Listen on Input 1 is in fact enabled. Then i can disable Listen on input 1, and the Mute/UnMuting is working perfectly.
d. It also seems counter-logical that whatever the on-off/sticky status of any of these buttons, the clicking of the Mute on the AudioFuseControlCenter overrides any sticking behaviour?

Versions
- Software Version: 2.4.0.347 (arm64)
- Firmware 1.3.2
- Running MacOS Tahoe 26.6.2
Hope this helps! Sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to learn this interface so that I can make the most of it, and scenarios like the above slow down that process and throw my understanding around!
Warm Regards,
Art
PS - Please accept my thanks to you and the entire team at Arturia for the great job you all are doing! I can appreciate how hard it must be to design and maintain music hardware in the current uncertain market, not to mention address all issues of all users with different computers, software, version numbers, etc etc…!!!
Hi Art,
Thanks a lot for the detailed follow-up, this helps clarify what’s happening.
Based on your description, especially the fact that the Mute button can become unresponsive while Listen is active, and that toggling Listen can sometimes “unstick” it, this doesn’t sound like expected behavior.
The added info that the Listen button itself can sometimes become difficult to disable/re-enable suggests the issue may be related to the interaction between these hardware controls rather than Mute alone.
Have you made a ticket already for the support team? I’m not sure if I can do much more from here.
( noted your feedback regarding the main volume knob feeling too loose/sensitive for fine adjustments.)
All the best,
LJ
Thanks for the guidance @lily.arturia! I will go ahead and file a ticket.
I was playing around further - this issue comes up every few hours, so is easy to replicate - and as of now, the Listen button on Input 1 seems to have taken control of the board.
Physical presses:
- If I press down Listen on Inputs 2,3,4, they light up and Listen 1 goes off, but as soon as I release those buttons they turn off immediately, and Listen 1 comes back on.
- Even if I press a few times on - or keep the Input 1 Listen pressed down (tried up to 20 seconds so far) - it doesn’t respond at all.
- None of the other front panel buttons respond at all.
When I access the unit via the AudioFuseControlCenter:
- The buttons function, but I still can’t get any of them to function by physically touching the unit.
- The Bluetooth button light will usually come on when i click it but then it refuses to go off.
Finally, when I press a few buttons (including the “A” button on the top left) and press some more buttons - suddenly the device begins to work normally.
Warm Regards,
Art
PS - Edit - I decided to leave the Input 1 disabled overnight. Today, all the hardware buttons are working fine!
Also noticed that my login for the Sound Explorer forum doesn’t actually work when filing a support ticket. The system refused to allow me to log in, and I had to create a new account with a different email address. Odd.
