Multi-Tracking Keylab essential 49

Hi To the community.

I can record my first track in Cubase 13 using all facilities on the keylab 49
when inserting a vst instrument.
If i create a second track and insert an instrument all works but i cannot change the sounds on the vst instrument on the centre screen and all the contextual buttons do not work for that section. The track 1 always displays the chosen instrument sound on all other tracks but can change with mouse what i want but the last instrument is still displayed on screen.
I can only use Key lab fully for one vst instrument or it is over to mouse.
Do i have to turn the first track to wave file before using keylab for second track selecting sounds etc???
I can get around the sounds by using the mouse , but that is making a controller redundant.
Does anyone know what i am on about???
Any help appreciated.
If i could do what Keylab does on the first track to all the rest i would be over the moon.

All the Best
John

HI @JohnS and welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum!

I’m a Cubase user myself and this is actually pretty straight forward, once you understand a few things.

I’m VERY busy currently, but will drop some screen shots later today for you.

Are you using ‘instrument tracks’ or the ‘instrument rack’ and midi channel method?

To better understand what’s actually going on i’ll explain using the latter approach, it might seem more ‘complex’, but it’s a better way of understanding things properly…

I’ll be back (terminator music) later…

Ps, meanwhile…

Hi Matt and thanks for reply

I just started to use The Arturia 49 Mk3 and managed to get scripts in.
I am using to start with instrument tracks.
I have been on it today and If i load and instrument from Arturia, all works fine.
It is when I make another track and put another Arturia instrument in it that I do not see the centre screen change the sounds and contextual buttons do not work in that same window underneath centre screen, but it does work when the gui is up and you can turn dial to choose the sounds and groups but it does not show on the Arturia after using first synth on track 1.
So in short everything works on the first instance but you have to look at the Gui in the second instance.
I do find i a little weird.
I do have it all set up according to Arturia instructions.
I am sixes and sevens with it at the moment at the moment.
It is probably pilot era .

HI @JohnS

Ok, having got what i had to out of the way and reread your post…

I don’t own a KL e49 myself, i’m just waiting on a KL MK III though actually.

If you manually select your second instrument track by selecting it in Cubase, does it not function as expected then?
Also, not owning one myself, is there a way of selecting tracks via your KLe, in effect doing the same as above but from the KLe.
Cubase will record on the track that is ‘in focus’ essentially.

Hi Matt
I manually select an instrument in Cubase 13 on second track and it does work alright.
The centre screen on the Arturia Essential 49mk3 does not respond to the second track when changing sounds, but it does bring up the sound lists and groups on the gui itself.
The knobs and sliders work but you have to look at the gui again to see what each knob does. I also can select tracks, but it is all about what you put in it
So far i found out if you render your first track to wave and delete synth and start another, the Arturia keyboard responds to the first track synth again.
All of this does defeat what i am trying to do.
I have got something wrong somewhere here and i puzzled at the moment
It would be nice if Youtube had someone on there explain setting up fully in Cubase and showing just how to multitrack with a couple of tracks at least.

Hi to Matt and all
I do find my question as a newby owning a Keylab Essential Mk3 that there has not been a question like mine on this forum.
Nevertheless i proceeded to as Arturia themselves and here is the solved reply.--------------------------------- So this is a known problem. It is only the main screen that does not function changing sounds on any other track but the first one.
So the workaround is to open another track and bring the vst gui up and the rotary knobs still works and contextural buttons work. You will see the sound changes on the gui and also the values of the knobs and sliders a the bottom of the gui’s (vst instrument).

Hello John

Thanks for reaching out and for using Arturia instruments.

I’m very sorry but there Is no workaround for this at the moment. This is known issue on our side and logged to developers attention. A fix should be on its way, but I don’t know when it will be released.

However, please note that only the screen’s feedback on the KeyLab won’t work, the controls should still work in Analog Lab mode.

Please let me know if you experience something different.

I look forward te your answer,
kind regards

Hi,
I wonder if the new Keylab MK3 have the same issue. Someone could test with Cubase ?
