Minilab3 Arpeggiatior + Ext sync support in Ableton Live (11 Lite) is currently bugged in an important way, making it really patchy to work with.
What is happening:
- Arp function is sometimes not working with Ext sync with Ableton Live.
“Sometimes” means that the bug manifests when you enable Arp, start playback in Ableton Live and play (it works the first time around), and then disable Arp & enable it again. It goes dead silent until you stop the playback and start it again, when it starts to work again.
Steps to reproduce the bug:
- Make sure “Out: Minilab_3 Output (Minilab3 MIDI” Sync checkbox is selected in Ableton MIDI section - this part lets the Ext sync work at all
- Enable Arp functionality.
- Enable Arp “Ext sync”. The Arp function should be nicely synced up to Ableton Live.
- Start playback in Ableton Live (prerequisite for Sync to be sent)
- Play anything
- Disable “Arp” (either via Shift + Arp or in menu)
- Enable “Arp”
- Notice that now the controller is not producing any MIDI Notes when keyboard is pressed
- Stop the playback in Ableton
- Start playback again
- Observe that Arp is working again.
Happy to disclose any further detail about this issue. Hope it might get fixed, since it is very annoying.
