ok so i am little confused? when i purchased the minilab3, was told software came with it to record, but apart from the analog 5 stuff and native instruments i don’t understand why the sale of unit doesn’t match the product as sold? do i need to purchase a DAW or shall i go back to GC return the product and call them liars?

Click the blue Start Now button.
You should have a key/ serial to a copy of Ableton Live Lite on your Arturia product page, when you have registrated your Minilab 3.
just noticed that as well will give it a go.
