MiniFreak recording in Ableton — audio interface needed?

I have the MinFreak VST (scary good), Analog Lab Pro, and the V Collection (a fan, in other words).

I’m thinking of buying the hardware MiniFreak and I was wondering if I’d need an audio interface to record audio into Ableton Live Suite 12.1. (I use both a desktop Windows 11 PC and a Macbook Air M3).

I could not find a conclusive answer anywhere to this question. Thanks in advance

Hi! If you want to link your Minifreak hardware to the Minifreak V in Ableton, you wouldn’t need a soundcard to just to use your hardware as a controller - the USB cable will suffice. That way, you could make patches on the hardware, save them there, then link via USB and save them into Minifreak V on your computer.

But if you want to input the audio directly from your Minifreak hardware into Ableton without linking and controlling the Minifreak V, then a soundcard would be necessary (like a Minifuse 2 or 4)

Thanks Lily. That’s my problem solved :+1:
