MiniFreak FW 3.0 with Granular Synthesis

Hi, I just discovered, that Arturia has announced the Firmware Version 3.0 for the MiniFreak. Here’s a link to the video What’s New? | MiniFreak FW 3.0. Can’t find it on the webpage though.
Anyone knows, how to get it? Granular Synthesis was high on my wish list.

It doesn’t look like they’ve officially released it yet. Maybe tomorrow!

Patience is key

Ah, here it is. :+1:

Cool to see the updates keep coming on the Minifreak, just some observations on 1st use of the vst plugin

Shame you can only select the sample engine on oscillator 1, giving you can already do this on the Microfreak, I’d have thought with the Minifreak having 2 oscillators we’d be able to use a sample in both slots so we can blend different samples on the synth?

Also, only Factory samples appear to be selectable, there is no user sample folder to select? Can we not use our own samples on the Minifreak?

So, I’m very excited about this update, as I’m a fan of granular synthesis. And while it’d be nice to import samples, I’m happy to have it included nonetheless.

My only qualm thus far? I’ve been unable to successfully transfer presets from Minifreak V to the hardware (it keeps getting jammed up at a particular spot and won’t upload any further. Hopefully I can figure a workaround, but I do wish all the Arturia software was more intuitive regarding preset management/storage/import and export.

Happy holidays, all!

After the issues I had with the original firmware update (1.0 => 1.1), which bricked a Minifreak twice (and having to sent it to Arturia for repair) and the difficult update to 2.0, I was quite wary about doing the update to 3.0.

The update process multiple times rewound the progress bar (first when it hit 13% and went back to 0%, then when it hit 14% and went back to 0% and finally when it hit 90% and then went back to 79%), so I was having that sinking feeling, especially since it seemed an eternity before the Minifreak reset itself after completing the update, but then it did boot-up normally.

I guess this means that I can now finally dispose of the big box that it got shipped back to me in, because it looks like I won’t have to send it to Arturia again!

Thank you Arturia for this great update!

Having Samples inside the Minifreak is really great and I enjoyed browsing through them. It would be a pleasure to see the number of samples increasing over the next updates.

I also recognized some bugfixes that were made. The synchronization seems to be more stable and the favorites-function of the Minifreak now showing me only the used slots (that was one of my biggest issues when using that feature). It would be nice to have a list of Release notes to know what has been fixed.

Again - thanks to the Dev-Team to make this instrument even better than it was before!
