Mini Brute V High CPU load with crackling and subsequent program crash

Overall and especially in the Glass Doors preset, the CPU load increases to over 50% when a few keys are pressed. This causes scratching and Mini Brute V hangs up.
My system:
Windows 10 pro
Intel(R) Core™ i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz, 32 GB
Mini Brute V 1.0.2.5024

I am only asking as someone else will: what audio interface are you using and what are your audio settings?

HI @audiOlymp and welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum!

As @Funtmaster has suggested already, your audio interface and its settings could well be the cause here, so if you could list them for us it would likely be a BIG help.
That’s a fairly meaty PC there so it’s likely to be ‘settings’ related.

You can list your system spec in your user profile so it shows up in any posts you make when someone hovers their mouse above your user name in those posts.

HTH!

Ps,
Please make sure to subscribe to our Newsletter to be the first to know about the latest from Arturia.

I use an Apollo X6. I tried buffer sizes from 128 to 2056, it doesn´t really matters. Meanwhile I read so many people have trouble with windows drivers by Universal Audio. I think, that´s the problem.

Hi again @audiOlymp
I think there is something else at play here. I think if it were the Apollo drivers we’d also be seeing reports of this on the uad forum too as I know there are quite a few PC users with Apollos who also use plenty of Arturia VIs and plugins.

Possibly graphics card drivers?

Hi @audiOlymp. Welcome to the community from me too.

A few more questions.

Which Samplerate do you set?

Do you only have the issue with Minibrute V?

As far as i can see, then your Apollo is a Thunderbolt. Do your PC support Thunderbolt ad the correct version if so?
Do you have multiple choices between Universal drivers? Is the driver updated?

Have you tried to reinstall Minibrute V?

Have you changed any BIOS settings?

You should not have this issue.

I am having the same issue, every single preset in the MiniBrute category crackles and pops.

Windows 11
Arturia AudioFuse Studio
Arturia MiniLab3
Intel 10700k CPU
32GB RAM

This seems to happen no matter what buffer I set it to.

Hi @RSMcGuitar,

This make no sense to me.

Which audio samplerate do you use?

How have you checked the CPU is overloaded?

Do you have issues with other instruments than MiniBrute V?

Do Category mean you are using Analog Lab?

LBH,

I apologize for not getting back to you on this. Life gets in the way again!

I’m using 48k. Even at 2048 buffer size, the pads still crackle when held, unfortunately.

Hi again @RSMcGuitar ,

You really should’nt have any CPU issues with a 48000 Hz sample rate and a max 256 samples buffer and if you drive your Arturia soundcard with it’s native ASIO driver.

Your system or your other gear could be broken, or some connections be bad or you could overdrive a gain somewhere.

But i really can’t troubleshoot unless you reply all the questions i asked.

Also please tell how many notes you have to have playing at the same time including notes in release phase to get the issue.

I tried the MIDIBrute V Demo with the Glass Doors preset and try as I might, I cold not get it to break.

This is on an i5 4670 CPU (Circa 2014), 16gig ram. Audio interface: Focusrite 8i6 3rd Gen 48khz 24bit 256 samples buffer size using ASIO drivers version 4.87.4.709. Nvidia GTX960, latest drivers (576.02). Windows 10 22H2 19045.5737 Fully patched.

Sorry,

Yes, I checked and CPU in task manager is like 4%. In Analog Lab it fluctuates between 20-45% (in the bottom right)

I agree that it seems odd and maybe I’m having some kind of conflict. I haven’t noticed with other instruments, other than heavy multis.

I’ll try within the DAW at some point.

Either way, I’m happy and excited for VC11(!!!) just thought it was interesting someone seemed to be having the same issue.

Does it help to turn down Minibrute V’s main volume?
Do you have the issue using headphones connected to Audiofuse?

You mean @audiOlymp who blame Universal Audio driver on Windows?

To me it does’nt look like a Minibrute V issue as such.

Oh, I agree, I think it must be something with my system. I’m trying it right now and everything seems fine. I’m guessing it has something to do with opening and closing my DAW and ALV and maybe some sample rate mismatch, or something like that happening.

I do use headphones and that is a good point about potential clipping further down the chain outside ALV. I have had that issue occasionally where I’ll see Windows audio itself will clip the monitor in the Audiofuse Control Center.

Thanks for your help.

When you use a DAW and using Analog Lab as a plugin inside the DAW like it’s meant to, then the plugin run the samplerate set in the DAW.
