I’m using Studiologic midi organ pedals with AstroLab using AstroLab’s 5 pin midi in. I have the organ pedals set to midi channel 3 and they work as expected with AstroLab.
But when using AstroLab’s USB to computer connection, the organ pedals seem to transmit on whatever midi channel the AstroLab is set to.
Is there any way to separate the AstroLab’s midi channel from the organ pedals midi channel when transmitting to the computer? Or is this a limitation inherent in the setup regardless of what keyboard I’m using to connect to the computer?
In the current firmware, there’s no straight “MIDI Thru” fonction; incoming MIDI notes are either:
filtered: if MIDI Out Filter in Settings / MIDI In/Out is set to Keyboard Only, incoming MIDI notes are not resent to the USB/MIDI Out.
or
re-routed: if MIDI Out Filter in Settings / MIDI In/Out is set to All Notes, incoming MIDI notes are resent to the USB/MIDI Out, but their MIDI channel is changed to the Part’s Output channel (which defaults to “Follow Keyboard”).
What is currently possible for the Organ keys/pedals, is to use a Multi with the desired Organ preset both on Part 1 and Part 2.
Keep your bass pedals on Ch 3 as you are already doing.
In Settings / MIDI In/Out,
Set MIDI Out Filter to “All Notes”
Set the Keyboard Channel to Ch 1 (to play the upper on Part 1)
In the MIDI menu (Shift +Split):
Assign Part 1 Input to Ch 1 and Output to Ch 1 (or to “Follow Keyboard”)
Thanks! That does work, although it uses a part just for routing.
I’d like to be able to have part 1 on midi channel 1, part 2 on midi channel 2, and be able to route the midi pedals to the computer on channel 3. Hopefully, Arturia will enable that in a firmware update.
The moderators can turn this thread into a feature request if that makes sense. Thanks.
