A Memory V section not created yet so I’ll try here.
I just purchased it (I didn’t know it was so new - I guess I’m a tester now…)
I’m testing Memory V in standalone mode under Windows 11. I’m using a Korg Kronos as a controller.
The Memory V plays fine, and responds to note on/note off, mod controller and pitch bend just fine. It seems to ignore channel aftertouch.
I was auditioning the patch “Midnight Lights” which specifically mentions aftertouch in the notes. I can see that aftertouch data is is being sent to the the Memory V by using Midi-OX.
The aftertouch has no effect on the sound. I went into Advanced / Keyboard and verified Aftertouch is enabled. I tried MPE in both settings under Advanced / Keyboard / MPE (they are visually indistinct - the only feedback for toggling MPE is the text changes between pink and light green). I tried both settings and still no response to channel aftertouch.
In the Keyboard Tab, Mod Wheel, Keyboard Tracking, Velocity, and Release Velocity have a “Curve Edition” function, presumably to add a curve to the controller response. Probably was meant to be “Curve Editor”? Anyway, when I play the Kronos, the Curve Edition graphs in Mod Wheel, Keyboard Tracking, Velocity, and Release Velocity all show a vertical line that updates live based on the playing. The Curve Edition on Aftertouch and MPE does nothing, even when Channel Aftertouch is being sent.
I found nothing under Audio/MIDI settings.
I found another switch for Enable MPE under Settings, and I tried it set to On and Off. No effect either way.
Is this a bug or am I missing a configuration setting to use Channel Aftertouch?
MPE is’nt to use Channel Aftertouch. Only enable MPE, if you have a MPE controller. (MPE have a polyphonic aftertouch feature.)
I don’t know about Korg Kronos.
Channel Aftertouch work without enabling MPE. Channel Aftertouch is Mono Aftertouch.
I’ve just tested the preset you mention. Channel Aftertouch work for me.
@LBH, thanks for the quick reply. Correct - I’m trying to use mono channel aftertouch control D0. I’m now testing Memory V as a plugin in Unify. So far it is not responding to Aftertouch in that environment either.
Are you testing on Mac or Windows? If Windows, Windows 11? Note my edit above about the “Curve Edition” graphs.
Channel Aftertouch is working by default settings. Nothing shall be switched on.
I have it working on both Windows 10 and 11.
Do your Kronos work with other synths. Do you test with Memory V in standalone mode outside a host?
If you are in a host, then be sure the Aftertouch is’nt filtered out by settings in the host.
Yes, the Kronos works well controlling other synth, DAWs and plugins via MIDI. I can see all the data it sends on MIDI-OX.
Before, I was testing Memory V standalone. I just tested using Unify 2 as a plugin host on Windows 11.
I have Arturia CS80 V3 and Memory V and Omnisphere on layers in Unify 2.
Omnisphere responds to channel aftertouch.
CS80 V3 and Memory V do not.
I just tried standalone on mac. It is working. The effect is subtle and is less obvious on higher notes as ‘Keyboard’ on the filter section is around 6.5. If you set this to 0 and optionally increase the Mod Amount of Aftertouch, the effect is more pronounced.
@Funtmaster, when you are getting aftertouch response, if you watch Advanced / Keyboard / Aftertouch in the “Curve Edition” graph, do you see a white bar move with your aftertouch expression?
I see that bar indicating live data in the other “Curve Edition” graphs, but I have never seen it in Aftertouch.
@LBH, Definitely no indicator shows for Aftertouch.
I have already installed Memory V on two systems, my studio desktop, and my portable notebook for performance. I have exactly the same result on both systems. I have tested both standalone and in Unify 2 as a VST3 plugin.
Are you suggesting re-install because there is a specific known issue that can be rectified by that process, or is that just a “last resort”?
Given that CS-80 V3 doesn’t respond to AT either, I’m suspecting it is an issue with the underlying Arturia platform. I’ll continue to test other plugins.
Aftertouch works fine here both on CS-80V and Memory V in standalone on Mac and on Windows, or as a VST3 plugin in Live , or an AU plugin in MainStage.
Just a thought: on MIDI-OX, can you confirm that the Kronos is sending Aftertouch messages on the same MIDI channel as the notes being played?
That’s normally the case, but if there’s an odd settings somewhere, it could be an issue.
